Dear McMatter,

Thank you for your speedy reply regarding the Work Gallery submission. I do wish to quibble with you! As you can see by the list of eminent photographers shown at the Work Gallery and by following their links, this was not any old gallery. By reason of the very paucity of information on it, I felt it was important to document its existence. The fact that the gallery was ahead of its time is mirrored in the lack of press about it. The Swiss were not yet ready to accept photography as an art form at that time, unbelievable as this may sound today, and thus gallery activities were not followed in the press. The gallery existed just previous to the invention of internet, hence the dearth of links. If you think it would strengthen the article, I could scan in some of my own photographs documenting some of the powerful workshops that were offered by the gallery. You could also contact any of the photographers who exhibited who are still alive for a confirmation of the gallery's importance (or is that something I am supposed to do?).

Yours sincerely,

Claire Bonney Basel 21 November 2019 Clairebonney (talk) 17:14, 21 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

The onus is on the contributor to provide reliable published sources from independent parties to establish notability on Wikipedia. Our goal is not to be a publisher of original research or thought but to reiterate, in our own words, what others have said about the subject. Sources do not need to be online but can be published in newspapers, books, magazines etc. You will have to include enough information in the reference that someone could go to their local library and look up the source to verify. I will add some helpful links below for you. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 18:08, 21 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
