Speedy deletion nomination of User:Cilocybin/sandbox

edit

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Cilocybin/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Kpgjhpjm 12:05, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:11, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

I apologise as i was not aware that a company is not allowed to add content, i wanted to add information about a company “Cilo Cybin” as their are making history in the cannabis sector in South Africa, they obtained the first licence to cultivate medical cannabis, and recently they were allowed to trade on the JSE for the first time in the existence of the JSE. I have not received any compensation to load information about the company. I understand that i cant market the company in any way, nor its products, and i will make sure going forward that its only factual for research purposes and not marketing please allow me to update the details in a factual way on Wikipedia Cilocybin (talk) 19:03, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

The paid editing disclosure is a Terms of Use requirement, it's not optional for you. It's also not a license to then immediately edit about your company or industry. You should forget that Wikipedia exists in terms of your company and go on about the business of your company as if Wikipedia did not exist. A company trying to force the issue of creating an article about itself is not usually successful, because interests and other things are different between business owners and Wikipedia. Wikipedia has no interest in enhancing search results or in companies telling the world about themselves. That's what your own website and social media are for. Articles here are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the subject, and summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the subject, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of notability. The best indicator of notability is when an article is allowed to organically develop, through independent editors taking note of a subject and choosing to write about it on their own. Before you are permitted to indirectly contribute about your company, we will want to see a good edit history of edits in areas unrelated to your conflict of interest, as a demonstration of your understanding of relevant policies. If you're interested in contributing about topics for which you have no conflict of interest, please tell what those are. 331dot (talk) 10:23, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

What is your relationship with the company? 331dot (talk) 19:56, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

I’m the founder of the company Gabriel Theron I would also like to create a page for myself ( is this allowed? Cilocybin (talk) 08:24, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please see the the autobiography policy. It is not forbidden to write about yourself, but it is highly discouraged, because people naturally write favorably about themselves. Wikipedia is not a place for people to tell about themselves, it is a place to summarize what independent reliable sources say about a person. It's usually very difficult for people to set aside what they know about themselves and only write based on what others say about them.(the same applies to writing about one's company) You won't be unblocked to, in the short term, write about yourself or your company. The Wikipedia Terms of Use require you to make a formal paid editing disclosure as you wrote about your own company which I assume that you operate to earn a living. Is there anything you want to write about other than your company or yourself? 331dot (talk) 08:30, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi, thank you, I completely understand. I would like to update the South African cannabis page, as it is lacking some of the latest changes in the legal and commercial environments. Cilocybin (talk) 08:34, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sorry I also read your comments again, if I disclose that I earn a living from the company, would I then be able to write about the company? The intention is to just start the page and get other users to add to it going forward. This will assist as the company was the first to obtain a cultivation licensing is South Africa, the first vertically integrated cannabis company still to today, and now the first to list on the Johannesburg stock exchange. I promise to write it factual only, and happy for you to review it before it is published. Cilocybin (talk) 08:39, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
