Burgess Hill changes

Please can you explain why the recent changes to Burgess Hill were reversed. (Population info, Transport info including information on road links, bus transport and taxi ranks.)

Egremont

You keep removing a link to the Egremont newspaper and marking it as spam. The newspaper is free and delivered to every house in the Egremont and district area and is therefore not only highly relevant but also cannot be spam as the newspaper makes no charge, nor advertises anywhere on it's website. Please do not remove the link again.

Littlehampton

Please could you tell me why you keep deleting the links to Littlehampton Marina on the Littlehampton page? Fishing( on the river and on the sea) is a big tourist attraction in Littlehampton so lots of people arrive by boat on day trips.Therefore they need to locate the marina for a mooring. Dorset

As you have answered some of my questions in the discussion page of Dorset, I thought that you may be able to answer this one in that discussion page and correct the article:

If the populations and GVAs of the non-metropolitan county of Dorset and of Poole & Bournemouth are as similar as the article explain, how can the the GVA per person for Dorset be £6,671 and the one for Poole & Bournemouth £15,683? There is a huge difference. If the populations and the GVAs of both areas are similar, the GVAs per person should be similar. There is a mistake somewhere.

I have a better idea

Chichester (district)

As I said in my note suggesting the merger, it is most unusual to separate the list of parishes like this one. Compare Horsham and Mid Sussex, both of which retain the list; and in particular the three East Sussex districts of Lewes (district), Rother and Wealden The latter are being built up to article length, with much more information than the West Sussex articles - and have two lists! Oh I heard the information somewhere but I think it must have been a joke. One of those Ray Mears hating people. I added the information but forgot to cite my reference. I hate to drag this on anymore than is strictly necessary but I can't help feeling you and the other bloke only pointed out stuff to me because you feel a sense of power doing it. Your statement along the lines of biographys require extra care, is somewhat unfounded to me the humble wiki user. Now I won't claim to have read every single page of editing guidelines, but the main text implies if you want to, have a go. Because its a website designed for everyone. If you so badly only want you and maybe a few buddies writing then I suggest you set up your own website because like I said all can use wikipedia. Now I explained carefully my account of what happened, I wrote something but forgot to cite my sources. When I looked for them I couldn't find them. This is a situation that could face any wiki user. The obvious next step would be to delete what I had written for I had no references to my statement. This is the very principles on which Wikipedia is based, that one can afford to make a mistake but if they do then they take appropriate action. Firstly, you know the titles Prime Minister of Great Britain, well we writel it like Prime Minister of Great Britain, not Prime minister of great britain. This is because it is a proper title given to a nominated/elected person to an office ...etc.

Cathedral Organists, Organists & Masters of the Choristers ,Assistant Organists & Organ Scholars are all respectively tiles like Prime Minister of Great Britain, but in the liturgical office of the church.

Obviously Great Britain is a proper noun and will always be capitalised. Prime minister will not always be, depending whether it is being used generically, or applied to a specific individual. The examples you complain of above are being used generically in section headings and should not be capitalised. I refer you to the Manual of style.--Charles (talk) 22:34, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

On further perusal of Wikipedia:Manual of Style (capital letters) I see that even God does not get a capital when described as "the Christian god", so I don't think mere organ scholars have much chance. Pippingford Park

Pippingford Park is in Nutley and the website offers a wealth of visual information pertaining to Nutley. Pippingford is still an Army training ground as well as being a haven for Deer and the lakes are Sites of Special Scientific Interest.

I am a Veteran Editor with over 27,000 edits under my belt, sometimes involved in Recent Changes Patrol using Huggle. At 17:37 (UTC) yesterday, during one of my patrols, I noticed this edit, in which you restored external links that Charlesdrakew felt were spam (as evidenced by that editor's Edit Summary for this edit). I am trying, as was Charlesdrakew, to protect Wikipedia from inappropriate external links, as we have been explaining to you on your user talk page, so to that end, one minute later I reverted your restoration and issued you standard warning Template:uw-hugglespam3.   — Jeff G. Firstly Jeff the issue is whether I am a spammer or not as labelled by Charlesdrakew who from the moment I added the link deleted it without any discussion and labelled me a spammer. Viewing my history on Wikipedia it is clear that I am NOT a spammer but a relative Newbie.

Secondly the comments on my user talk page suggest I have not read the spamming guidelines. Just because Charlesdrakew and you think it is Spam does NOT make it so. It should be up for discussion as the guidelines are not black and white and I do not consider the link to be spamming because:

• The site gives a history on the Manor House and the estate which is also relative to Nutley and Ashdown Forest, and also provides a good source of imagery of the area not contained on the Wiki
• I have visited Pippingford Park during one of their events and at no time was solicited for an entry fee or charge for car parking but was free to roam un-hindered
• The website provides no "point of sale", you can't purchase anything via the website
• Any commercial activity Pippingford offers is of interest to a small majority of people in a specific market, as with any Historic Manor, Estate, Garden etc in Britain and the World they have to create an income to survive, this should not detract from it's historic and local importance. E.g. The Tower of London's Wiki page has an external link to Commercial website

Lastly I would be very happy to have this issue taken to the Wikipedia admins for a decision which I would respect. I would at the same time like them to look at the conduct of Charlesdrakew and yourself regarding the authoritarian attitude towards ordinary pedestrian users of Wikipedia.

• Should Charlesdrakew be able to label myself and any other users as spammers
• Should Charlesdrakew be able to delete additions without any discussion beforehand
• Should Charlesdrakew be able to delete existing content without any discussion (the "Nutley Social Club" link added by another user) to justify my link deletion
• Should Charlesdrakew be able to vacillate on HIS decisions as to which links should stay and be removed
• Should Charlesdrakew be able "poke fun" at myself and other users
• Should Charlesdrakew be able continuously undo changes without receiving any warnings as I myself did
• Should you Jeff be able to threaten to ban my editing without discussion
• Do you Jeff really think the link I have added and tried to justify politely is "Vandalism"?
• If I was a spammer would I enter into so much discussion about this point and waste my time
• Did you Jeff actually read the discussion on this before issuing your threat!

Once again I added the link to Pippingford Park in good faith as I was impressed by the area as far as free accessibility and its beauty and thought it would be beneficial to the Nutley page. It seems ordinary users are at the mercy of seasoned users who use their knowledge of Wikipedia to block any open access and discussion. I find this incredibly sad and abusive!

I must admit, having read this item above, I tend to agree as I am suffering a similar fate: I'm an Asperger and find some of the intracies of Wiki quite opaque. If the "marshalls" wore badges to "prove" legitimacy I'd feel a lot better, but when postings are simply deleted it implies & conveys the impression that another viewer (DrakecharlesW) simply disagrees with your view/post and can simply delete without a discussion.

Personally, for me at least, this is the most unappealing side of wiki, and it rather sours the whole universal experience, diluting it down to the lowest common enominator, that of the self appointed judge, jury and executioner. When this happens, wiki and everyone else that seeks to use the resource is infinitely poorer. If I've made a mistake, surely the guardians of Wiki should take pride in helping users improve wiki in a more positive fashion by engaging with some asistance? If, once an explanation has taken place and it's clear that I've made an error, yes I'd be more than happy to apologise, but at the moment I feel that I've been nudged off the road into the hard shoulder by a hit and run driver -no recourse...nothing apart from a clear audit trail that DrakecharlesW really is a law unto himself which ultimately is rather pointless, but maybe this is his mission in life? --Jivebaby 16:32, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Official titles take capital letters, as in Assistant Organist. The deletion of these caps is an ongoing problem. If you have done it at other cathedral sites, please restor them. I was planning to walk there at some point (about 1½ hours from my house, straight over the Downs) and take photos prior to writing the article, but in the end I found a good one on Commons and used that instead; I had all the source material for the article ready and waiting.
