Deletion discussion about Mascom Top 8 Cup

Hello, Chanheigeorge,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Mascom Top 8 Cup should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mascom Top 8 Cup .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks, ColonelHenry (talk) 06:33, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup

The article 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Over two years away, fails WP:CRYSTAL, non-notable tournament

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Oops, you're completely right. I thought Defoe left at the beginning of February; I guess I blame Tim Sherwood for that. Anyway, thanks for correcting me. --BDD (talk) 23:05, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

names on shirt vs name in wiki-textbox

Hi,

I wanted to follow up on this discussion, but not start an edit war.

You wrote name on shirt irrelevant, there are players who put nicknames on their shirt like "Kun" for Sergio Aguero, general name conventions should be followed

1. Isn't the naming convention for South Koreans outside of the K-League to use their family name? (such as Park Ji-Sung who is written as Park). So in this case it would be Nam.

2. About the nicknames. All the Brazilian players who have shirts with one name and are written in wiki-boxes with one name - those are nicknames, such as Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, and Fred.

Redirect Seko Fofana

Hello. I've removed the PROD and restored the redirect. A redirect doesn't need substantial content, and the targeted article does mention the subject, so a person looking for the subject could be redirected there. If you really believe that the article should be deleted, you can bring it up at WP:RFD, but I doubt that it'll get too much support. Also, for future reference, please do not blank the article when you nominate it for WP:PROD. KJ «Click Here» 03:00, 19 April 2014 (UTC)

Previous FIFA World Cup meetings

Hi mate. Which editors have you spoken to about the "Previous meetings" sections in the 2014 World Cup group articles? As far as I can tell, it was only User:Jas39 and myself who expressed any opinion on the subject when it was raised on the talk page, and on the whole, our opinions were both negative. After all, previous meetings between the teams in a group really have no bearing on their clashes this time around; the only relevant one I can see is that Spain and the Netherlands met in the 2010 final, but that is such a freak occurrence that it would get mentioned in the prose match report anyway (I assume all 64 matches will have at least some prose describing the events?). – PeeJay 10:24, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Pre-2004/05 UEFA Cup season style

Hi Chanheigeorge. I'm trying to bring one of the old UEFA Cup season articles (the 2002–03 UEFA Cup, to be precise) up to the standard of the most recent UEFA Europa League. However, this season was before the competition format changed to include an extended qualifying phase, the group stage and a distinct knockout phase. In 2002–03, there were only seven knockout rounds (including a qualifying round) up to the final. Point is, when I need to create subsidiary pages with the detailed results and draw seeding of the different rounds of the competition, how should I do?

  1. Create a page for each individual round? (I think it's going overboard)
  2. Create a page encompassing all rounds? (Too heavy!)
  3. Create a page for the qualifying round and another for the remaining rounds?
  4. Use UEFA's (weird) clustering: qualifying phase (from qualifying up to the last 16) and knockout phase (quarterfinals up to the final)?

One coincidence I noticed in the clustering approach mentioned in 4. is that team seeding is used in every draw up until the last 16 round. But I don't know if this is a reason to follow this approach in the way we divide the competition results in subsidiary pages. I would really appreciate your input on this subject, because any decision taken would also be applied to other season articles. Regards. Parutakupiu (talk) 00:52, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

I think your three-page division plan might work, as it seems to divide evenly the total number of participating teams and fixtures. For now, I'm assembling everything in my userspace, so I can juggle with the several options and see which one might be the better one. One other thing: in terms of article naming, 1. and 2. are obvious (2002–03 UEFA Cup qualifying round and 2002–03 UEFA Cup first and second round), but what about 3.? 2002–03 UEFA Cup knockout phase? Wikilinking

Hi, and thanks for your work on the English Wikipedia.

I noticed an article you worked on. Just a short note to point out that we don’t normally link:

  • dates
  • years
  • commonly known geographical terms (including well-known country-names), and
  • common terms you’d look up in a dictionary (unless significantly technical).

This applies to infoboxes, too.

Thanks, and my best wishes.

UNCAF

All member nations get to enter without having to go through qualification. Therefore saying that all member nations entered in the intro is sufficient as you'll get to see all the teams listed in the group stage section. So yes, having a section just to list the teams is redundant!! "UNCAF" is also wikilinked, therefore if a reader still feels the need to know more, they can click on that and know more about UNCAF including it's member nations! Entering Champions League 2015/16 qualification play-off for Europa League 2014/15 title holders

Hello, I did some contributions to the page "2015–16 UEFA Champions League" under IP's 84.109.107.226 and 37.142.40.142. I'd like to discuss with you the headline, signed above. Frankly, it's not confirmed by any source, that if Europa League title holders are domestic champions of association 13-54 they enter anyway Champions Route play-off round. It is only a suggestion, that we accepted. According to the recently published "UEFA Access List 2015–16 with explanations" (ref. No.3 on the page) the section (Route) they enter depends first of all on whether the Champions League title holders themselves came from association 13-54(not clear necessarily as domestic champions or not), although with an assumption, that Europa League title holders have not qualified for Champions League. Anyway it is not defined perfectly there. The common sense says it isn't fair to pull the Europa League title holders as champions of association 13-54 out from the relatively easy Champions Route and put'em against monsters of "Big Five" leagues in League Route play-off round. Do we have to leave it meanwhile as is and wait for the "Regulations of the UEFA Champions League: 2015-18 cycle" to be published officially by UEFA? What do you think? 2015–16 UEFA Champions League

Hi! I need your opinion. My last contribution to the page 2015–16 UEFA Champions League have been undone by the user Qed237 without any explanation. I think the contribution does not deserve to be undone completely. Is it OK for you? If you do like the summary I did, can you revert it back? Or should I do it myself?Pahtakor (talk) 03:43, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

He replied the wikitable added was messy and hard to understand. I may suppose the table is not perfect, especially in terms of the legend. But, for me, unlike the text (above) it covers all the cases possible and may be useful for readers who find difficulty to derive specific team(s) moves from the too general textual theses. Is the table really so doubtful and superfluous, in your opinion? Is it worth trying to improve the table and publish again in the future?Pahtakor (talk) 14:54, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
It's not easy to simplify reflection of complicated issues like these, but i'll keep trying. Hopefully with publishing of the new CL regulations the things will be more clear and easy for implementation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pahtakor (talkcontribs) 23:02, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
I hope I'm not annoying you too much. I've simplified the table. But at first I'd like you to throw a glance on it. You can do it at my sandbox (via contibs). I do feel it should be added to the page. Expecting for your feedback.Pahtakor (talk) 00:37, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
@Chanheigeorge I see, you are very busy with editing numerous pages, so I added the improved table to the page again. You are welcome to see it there. Now I am waiting for the tournament regulations one day in the spring.84.109.107.226 (talk) 22:39, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
@Chanheigeorge So all our contributions to this beloved Distribution section are recycled by users, displeased by the text space it took. What do you think about picking all that stuff out to a separate article which will be opened by clicking a hyperlink from the root section?Pahtakor (talk) 14:57, 27 February 2015 (UTC)
