Duplicate images uploaded

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Verlander road.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Verlander.jpg. The copy called Image:Verlander.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 07:01, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Commercial use of Image:Finalout.gif

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Finalout.gif, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Finalout.gif has a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission, which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3). While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Finalout.gif itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 07:45, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Justin Verlander's No-hitter

edit

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Justin Verlander's No-hitter, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Tigers stuff

edit

Hey there, would you mind providing a link to that page where you are discussing more Tigers content for Wikipedia? We can discuss which of those proposed articles probably should be created and those that are not. Pablo Talk | Contributions 05:34, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Also, I've added a message to the top of your talk page that should be helpful in getting you started here on Wikipedia. Pablo Talk | Contributions 05:46, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sure, here's the link: http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=1&nav=messages&webtag=ml-tigers&tid=35713 Catbox 9 05:51, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. I see that the objective is to improve Tigers articles, not necessarily create new ones. I don't know if they have or not, but encourage your buddies to get usernames. Edits from people with accounts are more respected than those without accounts. Pablo Talk | Contributions 06:02, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure if they've done much. One poster said she'd get started next week. We'll probably get a sign up page going soon. I'll mention that they should have user names. Thanks for your help as well. Those pages you pointed out were good reads.Catbox 9 06:03, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

One of your fellow forum participants had a good idea; consider joining WikiProject Baseball. There are many advantages to joining a WikiProject. Pablo Talk | Contributions 06:06, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I went ahead and joined WikiProject Baseball. Also, like you suggested earlier, my focus (and the focus of everyone on the board I showed you) will be to improve new articles. The only reason we decided to make the new page for Verlander was because he's likely the most popular player on the team and his no-hitter was the talk of the town for quite some time. It still gets brought up.Catbox 9 06:37, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I wasn't clear earlier. You don't have to limit yourself to only working on existing articles. If you think a subject deserves an article, make sure that the subject is notable enough to be included on Wikipedia. If the subject is notable, then create the article. Pablo Talk | Contributions 06:49, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I understood what you were saying. There are subjects that need new articles, but like you said, they should be notable. Chad Durbin's page (a Tiger's pitcher) mentions he has a wife. It wouldn't be appropriate to create a page devoted to her. If; however, his wife was an A list actress, it would be appropriate. Catbox 9 06:52, 8 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

NFL Career Scoring Leaders

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of NFL Career Scoring Leaders, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/career-scoring.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 07:40, 5 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Joesph Lewelling

edit

The article Joesph Lewelling has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. File source problem with File:Hardyfinalout.JPG

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Hardyfinalout.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
