editI noticed that on the E-40 page there is an image of his latest cd cover. I was working on the Thizz page and wanted to add either the Thizz Nation logo, or their compilation cd cover. My question is (there are no dumb questions, but this one may be), are cd covers public domain? What is the best way to go about this?
Well you could upload it, use {{albumcover}} if it is an album or {{logo}} if it is a logo. Make sure you add a detailed fair use rationale for each use, as described on Wikipedia:Image description page, as well as the source of the work and copyright information.

Vandalism
editHi Carlitos,
Vandalism is "any addition, deletion, or change to content made in a deliberate attempt to reduce the quality of the encyclopedia." I guess you could call it one of the "side effects" of having a encyclopedia open to anyone. People do it because they think it's fun/funny, I guess. The thing you saw on the Mac Dre page was obvious vandalism, because someone added "he must be about 12". Ususally things like that are reverted right away. Hope that helped. —Khoikhoi 22:23, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
Bay Area scene
editUmm if you want to improve this articles and want to put a team together you can ask on the project talk page. If you wish, I'll try to help as I can. Best way to learn how to expand this pages would be to compare it to other similar good articles. Blues is a good example of a featured article of a type of music. The layout it gives is pretty good to understanding what you need to do with Hyphy and Thizzle. I would take all the sections from Blues and develop the articles like that: Characteristics, History, Impact. Thanks. - Tutmosis 19:47, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
e-40
editWho is this person writing so much garbage about the man? There's so much to be said, and so little of it has to do with the so-called "controvesy"? I guess with the good (Bay gettin out there), comes the bad (Hating on 40 for rapping abour muscle cars???). I'm somewhat new to wikipedia, how do disagreements like this normally get settled? -- Carlos 15:50, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, as far as I have noticed, wikipedia has disagreements like this all the time. Usually they involve someone determined to put their point of view in an article, not realizing that it is a point of view and not clear cut fact. They usually rely on "sources" that are of very little reliability or can be interpretted many ways. Occasionally, like this time, they also involve people who see some sort of conspiracy (GMC/Yahoo pushing e-40). The good news is that usually the person with the POV is not especially committed to wikipedia and loses interest and goes away, especially when there are multiple people opposing their changes. There are other official wikipedia methods as well (see WP:DR, but I have never been involved in any of them—I usually just try to be calm and detatched... it usually bores the other person into leaving or gets them to understand a bit better what is going on in the wikipedia. I'm sorta surprised that 40 has attracted this attention, but I'm glad people give a crap about the bay. It's also nice to have you here on the site helping describe our baysiness.... yadadadadadingdong? Reggaedelgado 16:09, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
congratulations!
editWow, such a short time on wikipedia, and already your user page has been vandalized! Your boy who hates e-40 changed your user page a bit... I left it so you can cite it if you start a mediation or complain to admins about him/her. Remember to continue taking the high ground in the dispute... like I mentioned, he'll probably lose interest and find some fansites to terrorize. As you deal with him, you may wish to check some of the pages that khokoi or however you spell it linked to you above in the welcome message he left. Hope all is well Reggaedelgado 21:15, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
The golden age of hip hop for deletion?
editI see that The golden age of hip hop is up for deletion. I wonder what you think of this. P.O.N.Y. 17:39, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
Hello Carlitosrosario, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:CreativeCommonsSomeRights2.png) was found at the following location: User:Carlitosrosario. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Please note that it is possible that the image on your page is included vie a template or usebox. In that case, please find a free image for the template or userbox. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 11:22, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:536133437 l.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:536133437 l.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talk • contribs • Bot) 04:51, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Unspecified source for Image:536133437 l.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:536133437 l.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:51, 26 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talk • contribs • Bot) 04:51, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:536133437 l.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:536133437 l.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use.
Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Geniac 16:15, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
