  Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw how you edited or created Culver City, California, and I noticed that the username you have chosen, "CCWebmaster", seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website. Please note that Wikipedia does not allow usernames that are promotional or appear to be shared by multiple people. Please take a moment to create a new account or request a username change that represents only yourself as an individual. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and remember that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. This login will not be shared. These edits are being completed by the webmaster for the City of Culver City, municipal government. No promotional edititng will be done. Thank you. CCWebmaster (talk) 18:19, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi, CCWebmaster. Thanks for editing. I never like giving people the run-around, but in fact your username is an issue even if the login information is used only by you. The relevant section in our policy is here; see the second bullet point, in which usernames that consist of names of posts in organizations are not permitted. Our naming standards are indeed stricter than many other websites because we do everything we can to ensure that editors understand that edits always are to come from individuals, and never larger entities. At this point you will need to request a username change or create a new account altogether. Thanks for reading. NTox · talk 20:26, 17 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Can you please not mark edits as minor that are in fact not minor at all? And using edit summaries would be nice. I'm guessing you're not much interested in wikipedia as a thing in itself, and that's all fine, but if you try to learn a little about how things are done here it'll make it easier on everyone. Thanks!— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 00:30, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your comments. We will be learning and are very interested in wikipedia. Actually did not see the edit summaries but will be using them going forward. CCWebmaster (talk) 18:21, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

removal of museums

edit

It's OK if you want to only edit your city's article, but you shouldn't remove undisputed important material, e.g. the fact that the museum of jurassic technology is in CC, without discussing it on the talk page. Personally, I was surprised to see that MJT gives its address as CC since it's on the North side of Venice Blvd, but nevertheless they do. If you have some reason why you think that this shouldn't be included in the article please discuss it on the talk page. Also, you should please check up on getting your promotional username changed before you edit much more, especially if you're going to edit controversially like this.— alf laylah wa laylah (talk) 21:22, 6 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sorry I made the edit too soon, I am working on the page rewrite in my user space and thought I was done and about to make the changes live. I'll revert your edit about him being born there once I'm done.Sgerbic (talk) 22:16, 5 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

rename

edit

THis has been going on since 2012????? Well, no one can say you did not try. Please seek a rename (again) as you need a name that reflects a single user rather than a position. The link is Wikipedia:Changing username/Simple Thanks, -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 23:53, 5 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. Thank you. -- Dlohcierekim (talk) 11:20, 6 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, HarryCulver. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. All of your edit are to Culver City, California, and your previous user name was "CCWebmaster". Magnolia677 (talk) 22:15, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

As previously advised, your edits, such as the edit you made to Culver City, California, give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:HarryCulver, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=HarryCulver|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:30, 2 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
