After trying multiple times to post my draft on my sanbox, i'm just gonna post it here until i find out how to post it properly without it looking weird. Sorry for the confusion.

  Instagram is a photo-taking application that allows users to apply digital filters to their photos, giving their image a unique retro type of look. (Tossell, 2011).  Users then have the ability to share their photos on various social networking sites, Facebook and Twitter being only a few, as well as Instagram’s very own social network, which allows users to follow people’s pages, browse their images, and comment on their photos (Pc Magazine online, 2010).  Instagram, however, is only available for iPhone and iPod Touch (with camera) users at the moment, and can only be purchased at the iTunes App Store (Pc Magazines).  Its pictures can be viewed on the open Web, but the Instagram application is needed for those that want to follow the Instagram photo pages on Instagram (Ivor Tossel).  An Instagram account must also be set up in order for one to use the Instagram application, so that they may be apart of the rising social network (Pc Magazine).
  With it’s launched in 2010 (Paul Sawer), with only seven people employed in the company, including executive officer Kevin Systrom, Instagram has reached a staggering 27 million users and counting (Brad Reed), with a rate of one million users joining each month (Ivor Tossel).  Although the application is exclusive only to the Apple family, a highly anticipated android version is soon to come (Meghan Kelly).  No release date, however, has been confirmed (Meghan Kelly).
  Since Instagram is built into the iPhone camera lens, the popular application allows users to become really creative with the way they take photos (Linaschke).  Because the iPhone is small, and thin, images can be taken from all sorts of angles, in all kinds of positions – something professional cameras would have a difficult time doing (Linaschke).  Users can then alter their photos with a variety of digital filters consisting of sepia tones, color saturation, grayscale, and many more (Pc Magazine).  Users also have the option of using Instagram’s built-in camera when taking their picture, or the regular iPhone camera application and then open their photos in instagram to be altered (Linaschke).  Overall, Instagram allows users to enhance their photo quality, and share it with those around the world (Mikeziarko).

In a span of two centuries, photography has progressed significantly. We are now able to take pictures anywhere and anytime. However, as the years have gone by, technology has eaten away at the value of photography. A photo craze was created through the digital camera but photographs taken were typically unimportant and empty. With the invention of Instagram, the concept of creating meaningful imagery has been reborn. Instagram gives the regular person the ability to create great photographs without learning photography.

Iphonographer is a term conceived to describe people who only take pictures with their iPhone. It allows people to view the world in a different light, through the different filters that it offers, as well as spiritually, by encouraging people to be more creative in the way they view the world. Moreover, Instagram is the first to make a photography application into a social network through connecting with Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, and many more. It allows people to share, discuss, and learn more from each others creations; it create new relationships and reconnect old; it allows advertisers to promote their products and services; and it shares ideas about traveling, music, movies and much more.
