Film plots
editHi there! I saw that you improved the plot for The Thing (1982 film). Unfortunately, Wikipedia has a guideline that states film plots should stay below a maximum of 700 words. This helps to keep the articles readable. That's why the article has a hidden comment that advises people to read WP:FILMPLOT. There are many articles that really need help with expanding the plot, but when you see an article that has over 700 words, sometimes the best thing to do is find a way to streamline it down a bit.
If you see that there are missing details in the plot summary but it's still over 700 words, one way to include them is to streamline paragraphs that are overly detailed. One easy way to streamline plots is to remove useless words. For example, in the sentence "He decides that he is going to try to save his girlfriend, Mary, which he eventually succeeds at doing.", you could probably rewrite this to 25% of its length: "He saves his girlfriend, Mary." That allows you to expand a different paragraph.
I like to work on film plots, too. So, let me know if I can be of any help. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 01:56, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
Pages you edited
editHey I noticed that you keep track of pages you edited for convenience. I'm not sure you know this, but Wikipedia already tracks this information. Just check out the "Contributions" link at the top right of the page. Yours should lead here. Additionally, you can filter it to articles only. You might find this much more convenient, especially because your list is only bound to become longer and more unwieldy. Though many editors including myself do track pages they've specifically created or made substantial edits to, and that's fine as well. Happy editing. Opencooper (talk) 03:47, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
- I am aware of that. However, I prefer to keep track of my edits like this. As I edit more, I'll have to search through different pages of edits (which would keep increasing over time), and it could take up a lot of time doing so. I know that you can filter out certain edits. However, I still prefer putting them on my profile. As for my list getting too long down the road, I was actually thinking of making a Pastebin article to put all of the pages I edited on if the list starts to get too long. For now, however, I'll leave them here until that happens. Thanks for the suggestion though. BrianBerta (talk) 00:21, 16 December 2016 (UTC)
Reservoir Dogs copyright concern
editPlot descriptions cannot be copied from other sources, including official sources and IMDb, unless these can be verified to be public domain or licensed compatibly with Wikipedia. They must be written in original language to comply with Wikipedia's copyright policy. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:12, 19 December 2016 (UTC)
- Yeah, sorry about that. I had trouble wording what I wanted to write. However, I re-edited the page using my own words. BrianBerta (talk) 20:46, 19 December 2016 (UTC)
