Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Country music, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Buddy Williams (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Reverts to Buddy Williams

edit

You reverted all of my copy edits to Buddy Williams (country musician). I've copy edited a dozen other articles since then so it isn't fresh in my mind but I believe these were basic edits for clarity, conciseness, and tone. I also put the long discography into a table per the maintenance tag and Wikipedia:DISCOGSTYLE. You did not leave any reason for your reverts in your edit summaries. What did you find objectionable? – Reidgreg (talk) 02:53, 17 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Buddy Williams (country musician), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Drover (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion

edit

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you. Reidgreg (talk) 14:53, 12 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi there,

User Reidgreg appears to have an obsession with undoing the many 100's hours of research I have contributed to this article. I would've thought that Wikipedia would be a place where someone could go to research a particular subject expecting to find as much information and detail as possible. Apparently Wikipedia does not wish that to be the case.

Much criticism has been levelled at the Discography i have carefully compiled. No more detailed discography exists anywhere, so why rob people of this information? I should be complaining to Wikipedia about Reidgreg vandalising my work, but i doubt whether they would be interested.

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours, for disruptively editing at Buddy Williams (country musician). Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Lourdes 16:47, 12 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia should stop the vandalism of my work by Reidgreg. No other Wikipedia user appears worried with my article offering up the most accurate and detailed Discography in existence. Thanks.

@Bodyswerve: I'm really sorry for offending you and hope that I have not discouraged you from editing at Wikipedia. I do appreciate the work you've done on Buddy Williams (country musician). I've done a couple hours work on the article, but I feel like I've spent much more time trying to discuss it with you (note the many messages above and on the article talk page), calling a request for comment and ultimately taking it to the administrator's noticeboard which led to the above block.
I understand that you're pretty much a one-article editor and may not be interested in Wikipedia policies and guidelines. However, it's these policies and guidelines which allow Wikipedia to function. Among these is the need to discuss controversial edits in order to avoid disruptive editing.
My edits were generally supported by four editors at Talk:Buddy Williams (country musician)#RfC on discography format and by an admin. You are absolutely free to pursue dispute resolution for vandalism or any other way you feel I have misbehaved or harmed the article. But I suspect your energies would be better spent discussing the edits to the article.
In my view, as an encyclopedia, Wikipedia functions to summarize notable topics – not to provide "the most accurate and detailed Discography in existence". I am not a deletionist but I am at least as concerned with the needs of the reader as I am with the desire to preserve information. I feel that if one is to provide a high level of detail, one should present that information in a manner which is easier to assess and absorb. Along with the recommendations of WP:DISCOGSTYLE (which represents previous discussions by experts) this led to my converting the lists into tables, omitting some data in the process.
Some of the data which was removed might be worked back into the article, as footnotes to the tables or a subsection. There are more specific notes at Talk:Buddy Williams (country musician) and I suggest continuing constructive discussion of editing the article there. I hope that we will be able to discuss matters and come to a consensus.
Sorry for being long-winded, and again my apologies for any offence. I don't have strong feelings about the article but have simply been trying to follow the editing guidelines. – Reidgreg (talk) 23:02, 13 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

April 2019

edit

Hello, I'm SummerPhDv2.0. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Jared Taylor seemed less than neutral and has been removed. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Your edit aimed to present Taylor's opinions as objective facts and whitewashed (no pun intended) the title of an article toward the same goal. The source's title, "America's virulent racists: The sick ideas and perverted "science" of the American Renaissance Foundation", is the source's title.
