  Hello, BobZ-US. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 04:05, 23 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the information. I was simply trying to be helpful and correct some simple errors such as fixing links that no longer go to the intended pages. If this is not appropriate, please remove my corrections and revert to the old links that no longer go to the correct document. As Managing Editor of Carnivorous Plant Newsletter, I am fully an unpaid volunteer and receive no compensation whatsoever. BobZ-US (talk) 15:49, 23 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wikitext is not HTML

edit

Forgive me if I am stating the obvious. It appears from your question at the help desk that you were expecting to be able to edit HTML text. Wikipedia content is stored as wiki markup, not as HTML. It is converted on the fly to HTML when it is sent to your browser. When you click on the "edit" button, you see the wiki markup, not the HTML. You may edit this text in source mode (which is the only mode I am really familiar with) or you may use one of our visual editors. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the help desk or on my talk page. -Arch dude (talk) 15:03, 23 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
