Draft edit

I have moved your article to Draft:Jiří Vacek as otherwise it is likely to be deleted as blatantly promotional. Guy (Help!) 13:26, 25 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

I have revised your article and restored it to Jiří Vacek. I hope this is helpful. Biscuittin (talk) 00:06, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks so much!--BlueKarel (talk) 12:21, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

WP:UNDUE edit

Hi BlueKarel. I understand that Jiří Vacek is dear to you, but the way you're promotin ghim now, by inserting info on him at other articles, is really WP:UNDUE and WP:PROMOTIONAL. At best, you can use links like Category:Inspired by Ramana Maharshi. Best regards, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 13:37, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Dear Joshua, You deleted the link to Jiří Vacek from the page of Sri Ramana Maharshi. I would like to please You, if You can accept Jiří Vacek as a devote of Sri Ramana. Jiří Vacek have written many books and made many translations of Ramana Maharshi. He has practically introduced him in our country and even abroad. He wrote many articles to the Mountain Path and the Call Divine. He introduces the teaching of Sri Ramana over 50 years. I believe, he is worthy to be mentioned as a devotee of Sri Ramana Maharshi. Thanks--BlueKarel (talk) 17:54, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Can you provide some links to articles he wrote? Best regards, Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 18:17, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hello Joshua, Yes, I would like. All these information and some of this articles are published hier. I found something hier too. Many of this articles are over 30 year old, also they are not on web. However, they are presented in the book "Handful of Gems". It would be nice to put this link on the page of Jiří Vacek, because these articles are very interesting. Thanks for conversation--BlueKarel (talk) 18:42, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest in Wikpedia edit

amended section header - my mistake! Jytdog (talk) 18:01, 1 March 2016 (UTC))Reply
Hi BlueKarel I work on conflict of interest issues here in Wikipedia. Your edits to date are all about Jiří Vacek and you have made it clear on multiple talk pages that you are here to "get the word out" about him. I'm giving you notice of our Conflict of Interest guideline and Terms of Use, and will have some comments and requests for you below.

  Hello, BlueKarel. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you.

Comments and requests edit

Wikipedia is a widely-used reference work and managing conflict of interest is essential for ensuring the integrity of Wikipedia and retaining the public's trust in it. As in academia, COI is managed here in two steps - disclosure and a form of peer review. Please note that there is no bar to being part of the Wikipedia community if you want to be involved in articles where you have a conflict of interest; there are just some things we ask you to do (and if you are paid, some things you need to do).

Disclosure is the most important, and first, step. While I am not asking you to disclose your identity (anonymity is strictly protecting by our WP:OUTING policy) would you please disclose if you have some connection with Vacek, or the people who run his website and sell books and other stuff through it, or any other institute connected with him? You can answer how ever you wish (giving personally identifying information or not), but if there is a connection, with please disclose it. After you respond (and you can just reply below), perhaps we can talk a bit about editing Wikipedia, to give you some more orientation to how this place works. Please reply here - I am watching this page. Thanks! Jytdog (talk) 16:14, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello Jytdog, I do not understand the violation. My account is used by me only. I have never given it to someone else. I only cooperate with my friends who help me to make the article better and to translate it. I need such help, I am not English. I thought, that each of us (and you too) would like the wikipedia pages to be nice. My aim is only one - I would like to introduce to people very interesting teaching presenting the teaching of Sri Ramana Maharshi in a bit different way. I believe, it is worthy of it. Thanks for Your understanding. Best regards--BlueKarel (talk) 17:52, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for replying! Sorry that the header was incorrect. (really, sorry! i fixed it now) I am making an inquiry about conflict of interest. I will explain the background more in a bit, but for now, would you please disclose any connection you have with Vacek, or the people who run his website and sell books and other stuff through it, or any other institute connected with him? Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 18:00, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hello Jytdog, I would like to discuss and make wikipedia nice. I need a grammatical help during the translations, which are officially presented on wiki pages. The rest is only my work. With the people, who sell the books possessing the server sell books and other stuff through it I have absolutely no connection. My aim is to introduce something new about yoga only. And moreover, I do not live in Czech Republic. Thanks for conversation--BlueKarel (talk) 18:22, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for replying again. You answered part of the question. Would you please answer - do you have any connect with Vacek, or the people who run his website or any institute connected with him? Thanks! I will talk more about why I am asking these questions in a bit, but please just answer for now. I need to understand where you are coming from, in order to help you. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 18:30, 1 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Dear Jytdog, I will be glad to answer Your question. Relating to the conflict of interest here on the Wikipedia, I can sincerely declare, I am not in any family, business or other relation with J.Vacek. So I believe I can say, I am not in any conflict of interest here. It is true, I am probably not completely unbiased by definition since everybody´s incentive to make any page here always lies in his or her interest related to the topic given. As for me, I have read and studied plenty of books of yoga and spiritual practice generally and am impressed with the teaching and books of Jiří Vacek as well as the extent of his over 50 years-long work, which is the only reason why I created this page. I hereby declare, I have made everything as my hobby only with the aim to share interesting things I found. Thanks for understanding. If needed, I will be glad to answer any other question of Yours.--BlueKarel (talk) 10:20, 3 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for writing all that, but I am looking for simple facts and you haven't provided them. (I am not asking you to judge if you have a COI, I am just asking about your connections, and we can discuss together if they constitute a COI in Wikipedia. Thanks for making clear that you are not in any family, business or other relation with J.Vacek. I am going to end the "conflict of interest" query here. And move to the next phase. I'll open a new subsection about that. Thanks for your patience! Jytdog (talk) 16:46, 3 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Advocacy in Wikipedia edit

Based on what you have wrote above, I want to make sure are aware of issues around advocacy in Wikipedia.

There are a lot of things that Wikipedia is not (see What Wikipedia is not) and one of the things WP is not, is a platform for advocacy. Please especially see the section, WP:NOTADVOCACY. "What Wikipedia is Not" is both a policy and a "pillar" - something very essential to the very guts of this place. People come edit for many reasons, but one of the main ones is that they are passionate about something. That passion is a double-edged sword. It drives people to contribute which has the potential for productive construction, but it can also lead people to abuse Wikipedia - to hijack it from its mission of providing the world with free access to "accepted knowledge." Some people come here and try to create promotional content about their companies (classic "COI"), some come to tell everybody how bad it is to eat meat, some come to grind various political axes, some people come here to teach about spiritual truths - we get all kinds of advocacy (COI is just a subset of it) It all comes down to violations of NOTADVOCACY. A lot of times, people don't even understand this is not OK. I try to talk with folks, to make sure they are aware of these issues.

For non-COI advocacy issues, we have three very good essays offering advice - one is WP:ADVOCACY another is WP:SPA, and see also WP:TENDENTIOUS which describes how advocacy editors tend to behave.

Will you please look at this edit by you in light of what I wrote above, and those essays? In that edit you restored badly sourced, unencyclopedic content that I had moved to the Talk page for discussion and improvement, and your edit note says: "Creation of the crucial element of this page - Essence of Teaching". I do understand that you want to use Wikipedia to broadcast his teaching. If the article meets the NOTABILITY criteria, of course the article can exist, but it must be neutral and well-sourced. You cannot use the article to promote him or his teachings.

So, while I hear you that you find Vacek to be very wise and you want to make sure his teachings become well known in the real world, but please do try to check that at the login page. And while you are free to edit about whatever the heck you want, please do consider broadening the scope of your editing. (I do realize that you are just getting started here, and everybody starts somewhere! Who knows where you will end up)

Changes to content (adding or deleting) need to be governed by the content policies and guidelines - namely WP:VERIFY, WP:OR, WP:NPOV, and WP:NOT and the sourcing guidelines WP:RS and WP:MEDRS.

In terms of behavior, the really key behavioral policies are WP:CONSENSUS, WP:CIVIL, WP:AGF, WP:HARASSMENT, and WP:DR, and the key guideline is WP:TPG. If you can get all that (the content and behavior policies and guidelines) under your belt, you will become truly "clueful", as we say. If that is where you want to go, of course.

But do try to aim everything you do and write in Wikipedia to further Wikipedia's mission (not your mission) and base everything you do on the spirit (not just the letter) of the content and behavior policies and guidelines. Your passions will determine what you work on, but they shouldn't guide how you work here. I hope that makes sense.

If you have questions about working in WP at any time going forward, or about anything I wrote above, please ask me. I am happy to talk. Thanks again for your patience with me. And if you have any reflection about advocacy, I would be happy to hear them and discuss them. best regards Jytdog (talk) 16:57, 3 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello Jytdog, thanks very much for Your answer. I apologize, I have not written, I have had much to do now. As soon as I can, I will study the next paragraphs and I will write back. Thanks for Your advices and best regards--BlueKarel (talk) 15:49, 16 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Please ask here if you have any questions or want to discuss further. Jytdog (talk) 20:05, 16 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I will be glad to discus and make the article better. I have read the first part of the paragraphs - about the promotion and advocacy. I strongly believe, that the article is written in the neutral form without any promotion. This article has already been developed on other wikipedia sites by other wikipedia people for many years to fulfill this paragraph. This paragraph is one of the main paragraphs of the other wikipedias too.
I have read the talk page of Jiří Vacek [[1]] and will be glad to add the other sources (references) to these non-accepted parts of the article. However, it will take me time to find all that. Best regards,--BlueKarel (talk) 09:58, 17 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for reply. What I've asked you to keep in mind, is your own devotion to people and ideas related to Vacek. Please do keep that in mind and be ready to hear feedback from people who are less devoted and more objective. Good luck to you! Jytdog (talk) 16:57, 17 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I understand. I wanted to point to the fact only, that it is not "my" article already for a long time, namely for four years. If I have made some changes during these years, it was all on the basis of wishes of other wikipedia colleagues only. You can find it in the histories and discussions. I will be glad to translate it for anyone if interested. And now I translated it, exactly, without any change to English. So I am not directly involved in the article anymore. I would really do my best und accept the accusation of my devotion and any attempt of promotion hier, if I get an exact and specific explanation. However, I strongly believe, that these facts do change the perception of this metter.
One of the last changes made was the adding of "Work" ("Werke") on the basis of the wish of a foreign wikipedia colleague. See plese this link [[2]]. I thought: Yes. Of course. It is a very good idea. It is logical. Every biography of any author must contain overview of his own work. And I saw, it is hier in the English wikipedia too. And a colleague hier deleted it as a promotion... I know, each of us can have a bit different view of the thing, but please, do not connect the content and the style of this article directly with me anymore.
I would be very glad, all these things to be clear. I belive, everything we can do better and better. And I am ready to hear any progressive comments to make the article better. However, it is very difficult for me to change the article being developped by wikipedia colleagues, which are much more skilful as me, for many years. So, if needed, I will be very glad, if You can help me. Thanks for understanding! Best regards,--BlueKarel (talk) 14:08, 19 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hello Jytdog, I have added the Sources to the subsection Biography[3]. Please, take a look, if it is good, if I can put it on the main page. Thanks very much.--BlueKarel (talk) 19:14, 25 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hello Jytdog, thanks very much for editing of the talk page Jiří Vacek[4]. If needed, it is no problem for me to translate the sources into English. But, if I understand well, You write about Self-published sources that it is not good to use them hier. However, the correct and authentic information about the life of the author we will probably not find anywhere else than in the biography released directly by the autor. Only the author knows his life. So, please tell me, what I can do as the next step. Thanks and best regards,--BlueKarel (talk) 09:59, 30 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hello Jytdog, please, write me, what I can do as the next step. Thanks very much! Best regards,--BlueKarel (talk) 10:01, 7 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
