Welcome! edit

Hello, BlueBlurHog, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. April 2021 edit

Hello, I'm Serge, an Admin here on Wikipedia. Please stop deleting talk page discussions, even if you started them. Archiving is preferred. I can take care of this for you this time, but please keep this in mind moving forward. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 17:09, 19 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

I understand what you’re telling me, but on the one hand, I’ve seen discussions on the talk page for Wikipedia’s list of highest grossing animated features be removed: like one about why Spiderman: Into the Spider-verse is not on the page—calling it a great movie and deserves a spot, and one about why the Lion King remake is on the list (both of which I’ve seen, but both didn’t make sense to me, worth pointing out, but somebody removed them). On the other hand, what was the discussion you are referring even worth? I saw your response, it was clear that the discussion—-that I started—-was going nowhere, so why do you even want to keep it up?

Suggestion edit

Hi, thanks for the note you added over at the top of the talk page for List of video games considered the best. I have a few suggestions for a revision of the message, which you can see below in bold. The word "are" simply inserts a missing word. The more important addition is to direct newcomers toward the FAQ section directly above the message, which lays out the list criteria explicitly. Also, I suggest eliminating the first sentence of the message (beginning with "Everybody"), as the following sentence already makes the purpose of the message clear.

To reduce the need to ask and answer, I’ll remind the newcomers of what they need to do. To all who are new to this page, and to all who are new to Wikipedia as a whole, the criteria are on the top of the main article and in the "Frequently asked questions" box immediately above this section. Read the FAQ thoroughly, and you’ll find the instructions.

It's already a useful message, but I believe these few changes would make it even better. Thank you for your time. Phediuk (talk) 15:33, 6 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Oh, yes, of course. I didn’t notice the missing “are” until the day after I uploaded. But I thought it the point came across well enough, and that’s why I didn’t change it. I’ll make those other edits right away. BlueBlurHog (talk) 01:44, 1 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
