Editing Brooke Medicine Eagle’s Biography Page

I am new to editing wikipedia pages, but certainly not new to using them to learn more about everything under the sun. I have been using the Internet since it was text only, and teaching people how to use it since then as well. It seems like more often than not, when I do a search online the most informative search results come from a Wikpedia entry.

I have been entrusted by Brooke Medicine Eagle herself to correct the erroneous negative information that has been placed on a page that was ostensibly her biography, but somehow has contained mostly unfair and untrue allegations that are so negative and false that they have no place on a Wikipedia Biography of a Living Person page.

One of the most healing and life-changing experiences in my life was when a good friend invited me to attend a workshop led by Brooke Medicine Eagle called “Dancing the Circle of Light” in March 2004 in Mazomanie, Wisconsin. I had read Brooke’s awesome book, "The Last Ghost Dance” and was thrilled to have a chance to meet her in person. This weekend retreat helped me to connect to my Highest Self and my true purpose in life in a deeper way than ever before, and helped me pull myself out of a very deep depression and start to focus on being my true self.

Since then I have also participated in two online events in which Brooke Medicine Eagle was one presenter among a group (Shamanic Dreamkeepers Conference, 2021 and Dreaming the New Earth, 2023) and am currently partipating in a 6 week long online workshop led by Brooke herself, called Living White Buffalo Woman’s Wisdom. I have begun reading another of Brooke’s books, Buffalo Woman Comes Singing, as part of the work for this 6 week long online workshop. I am shocked anyone could find her teachings to be harmful to Native Americans or their heritage; those statement on her page are from one very negative viewpoint that is not something that could in any way be considered appropriate for a Biography of a Living Person. In fact, anyone who has taken the time to read her books and to meet her in person, or attend one of her online courses would know that that is very much not the case.

Since 2021 when I wrote a long call for help on the Brooke Medicine Eagle Talk Page, I have been trying to learn how to correct several very hurtful, negative and untrue statements on Brooke Medicine Eagle’s wikipedia biography page. I am doing so with active intention to transform her current biography, which is so acutely false and negative that Brooke herself has asked me to help - she would like me to go as far ask ask to have page deleted entirely if the edits I am suggesting are not permitted to remain.

So please be advised, while I am new to editing Wikipedia pages, I am definitely not trying to break any Wikipedia policies, which I have read thoroughly several times. I am simply working to ensure that this Biography contains actual biographical information about this globally recognized teacher and healer, Brooke Medicine Eagle. If anyone feels I have made any mistakes in my modifications to the page about Brooke Medicine Eagle, please feel free to help me better understand how to make the truth about her be available instead of these very negatively slanted mis-statements that have no place in a biography of a living person on wikipedia.
