Welcome edit

Hello Bill518 and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your contributions, such as the ones to Kirsten Gillibrand, do not conform to our policies. For more information on this, see Wikipedia's policies on vandalism and limits on acceptable additions. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox (but beware that the contents of the sandbox are deleted frequently) rather than in articles.

If you still have questions, there is a new contributors' help page, or you can click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia.

I hope you enjoy editing and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! power~enwiki (π, ν) 02:20, 1 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

March 2019 edit

Hello, I'm Hydromania. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Kirsten Gillibrand, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source, so I removed it. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Note that what you wrote is not in the source given. Also note that this is the second revert this week of this exact material. go to the talk page Hydromania (talk) 02:37, 1 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

My edit was adding nickname Kiki to Kristin gillibrand. Well know nickname in the legal political and business community in albany ny area. Link was to an article 5 years ago showing Kiki nickname. No malice intended by m post / edit Bill518 (talk) 16:21, 3 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

First off, that's Kirsten Gillibrand.
In regards to your edits, please see the links above in the welcome message. In short, 1) edits need to be sourced 2) even if you think the edit should stand, if other editors disagree you need to discuss it on the talk page.
your edit adding a nickname was not sourced as the link given didn't mention such a nickname (unless we are referring to different links). In addition it was deleted twice already, which means you go to the talk page and bring it up. The other edit, adding a supposed quote, was inaccurate based on the source linkef. Additionally it was already being discussed on the talk page.
I hope this helps. (I also sincerely hope you weren't aware of this before, and that this is actually your only account. Otherwise I'm just wasting my time) Hydromania (talk) 19:51, 3 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

this is my only account. Thanks for info. I’ll not attempt any edits to any pages without viewing talk pages.
