Zoo Bar edit

A tag has been placed on Zoo Bar (Halifax, West Yorkshire), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you feel that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Xiahou 00:27, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I wanted to let you know that I am contesting the speedy delete, as I've edited the article to assert the bar's notability. - Freechild 05:09, 21 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dave Livingston edit

Hi. You recently tagged this article for speedy deletion as a nonnotable biography. As the article does contain a claim to notability, I have removed the speedy delete tag. I would suggest the proposed deletion or articles for deletion process instead. If you have any questions, drop me a line on my talk page. Natalie 22:17, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

North Omaha edit

I appreciate you bringing up the discussion at the Omaha page regarding the status of the North Omaha articles. I think you'll find that there are few people who are interested enough to speak up about North Omaha, either on the side of keeping the articles separate, or to unite them. I think there is also an issue regarding a burden of proof; nowhere else in the city has been studied as much as North O, except South Omaha - and frankly, I think that the absence of articles about that area is too bad. Frankly, I think the historical racial and socioeconomic tensions between those two areas of the city and the rest of the city overwhelms most Omahans, particularly when it comes to providing a non-biased POV. So rather than engage in any constructive dialog, they simply avert the subject however possible. - Freechild 16:15, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

FYI, thanks for bringing this topic up. The more I consider the possibilities, the more I see the necessity of bringing the different articles together a little more. Also, thanks for writing the article on Alfonza W. Davis - very cool. - Freechild 08:38, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'll keep the conversation here... and hope you find it... I think it is fine to naturally expand the number of articles on a topic, and explore the many ways that they can be written, categorized, etc. Once the editing community grasps the bigger picture, it will be easier for everyone to understand where things should go. So the Omaha articles are naturally experiencing expansion as more and more people become interested in contributing. In the near future, we will all be able to discuss where it will make sense to bring things together more. In the meantime, I am enjoying seeing your name pop up in subjects that I also take an interest in. :) Keep up the good work! BierHerr 13:37, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Wanted to let you know I started that article on Morton Meadows that you were interested in seeing. Any other suggestions? - Freechild 18:25, 26 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, I'll be... You certainly are thorough! I read through the source you posted, and added a little to the article around the Historic District proposal. Next time I am in Omaha, I'll see if I can grab a photo or two. BierHerr 20:11, 26 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Good luck with that. FYI, I'm a little concerned that what you wrote about the historical district sounds a little too close to original research. Can you attribute what you wrote? That'd sharpen it up. Oh, and good luck reading the report on Morton Meadows/Dundee - its too dense and I'm not committed enough to mine out anything useful from it. - Freechild 20:40, 26 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
The report was where I got the info... dense, but interesting IMO. :) I don't know if I placed the ref tag in the right place (I'm terrible at citing) but that should at least allay any "original research" fears. BierHerr 20:53, 26 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wanted to let you know that I've just finished an article that situates your interest in Morton Meadows within the rest of the Omaha community. Any feedback or contributions are appreciated. Landmarks in Omaha, NebraskaFreechild (Hey ya. | edits) 04:00, 5 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy Delete request on The Stiz edit

Hi, thanks for the message. The reason I declined the speedy delete is that an article should have no assertion of notability to be speedied. That's not quite the same as not being notable. Being a columnist for what is essentially a national (or perhaps regional) newspaper would place him in a position where he might be notable, his column must be read by a lot of people. However, even if notability is asserted, it may not be enough to justify a Wikipedia article. You've got two options, you can either prod it, if uncontested it will be deleted after five days. Or alternatively you can, as you mentioned, start an AfD. I must admit, I did think about this one for a while and nearly prodded it myself. Whatever you decide, good luck, Mallanox 22:14, 29 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sammy Luftspring Categorizing edit

Hey, thanks for touching up the Sammy Luftspring article for me. I was working on it late at night and was going to continue but got distracted and you did it for me. Much thanks. - Rabrams20

Omaha edit

Good start on the culture section, although I still think there is more to be done - although I'm not sure what. Other pages, like Chicago or Brooklyn, don't offer a lot of guidance. Yeesh. Wanna take a whack at Racial Tension? I probably should... I've been trying to work on other articles, but I just keep coming back to this one, shaking my head. So many possibilities. Thanks for working at it. – Freechild (BoomCha) 04:02, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
