yeah mate it's all good, i just though this newer update looked cleaner and easier to read, the whole medal box with gold, silver and bronze with WR in green and Aussie record in red was done by me in the first place in an older account, just figured if people liked my previous idea, they'd be open to this one —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aussieswimmer (talkcontribs) 01:43, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

TVS/Freeview (Australia)

Hi Bidgee

I emailled Freeview asking whether TVS is in fact part of Freeview. Their response is below. If the Freeview page continues to list TVS as a channel, it should be noted that TVS (and the other community channels which are or are about to be broadcast in digital) are not technically part of Freeview.

Response from Freeview:

[TVS is] not a shareholder in our consortium. Freeview is owned by ABC, SBS, Seven Network, Nine Network, TEN, Prime, WIN and Southern Cross.

In saying this, Freeview does promote TVS as part of the channels that are available on the digital platform, because our primary function is to convert Australians from analogue to digital TV and we do this by promoting the channels that are available in digital. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.158.50.65 (talk) 10:38, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Please discuss reasons for reverts

Hello fellow wikipedian, can you please post reasons for reverts on the Bundaberg talk page. Information was sourced and cited from Bundaberg City Council published non-fiction works? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.39.51.116 (talkcontribs) 05:54, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Clearly, there are some issues with referencing, for example [1]. This doesn't fine the citation criteria by a long stretch.
Also, there are some issues with capitalisation: "The Latter was jestingly adopted into the Aboriginal" and spelling "or caln ..."
I also wonder who has this opinion: "Some of the theories verge from plausible to outright fabrications"?
In places, the writing looks accurate and well sourced, but capitalisation, spelling, and referencing need to be correct. Perhaps, in order to avoid reverts, you could build your skill by completing edits that are more straight forward to begin with? Good luck. --wcrosbie, Melbourne, Australia 09:44, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Fair enough, however in the spirit of what Wikipedia is and reminding more distinguished publishers that Wikipedia is open to all contributors and that their edits are not gospel. As well as considering to help better the article instead of simply reverting an edit that raises a different opinion to the one posted by the original author; particularly when the opinions given are cited from reliable sources and are usable according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Non-free_content#Text. I understand the need to create order from chaos but unfortunately this kind of attitude gives me a depressing feeling that even this project's (Wikipedia) information is controlled by those who feel they know what's best for the rest of us. How disappointing. 203.39.51.116 (talk) 01:03, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

I can understand that your edits where done in good faith but Wikipedia is strict on the way content is written and sourced. I recommend that you sign-up for an account (you don't have to if you don't want to) and create a page on your userspace (something like I've done here) and use it to get use to and also learn the styles, use of templates, editing ect but it can also be used to edit and allow others to show where you went wrong ect so that you can edit articles in the future without having to worry about it being reverted. I'm also sorry that you feel depressed and disappointed about it, but I hope can stay and contribute to Wikipedia. Bidgee (talk) 01:33, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

The kind gesture is appreciated Bidgee. 203.39.51.116 (talk) 04:48, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

ABC News 24

Good afternoon Bidgee.. Do you think it would be worth putting protection on ABC News 24, the amount of times we've had to revert it in the last 3 or so days? I'm interested to hear your opinion on whether or not it should be. Wally Otto (talk) 06:43, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

I don't think page protection will serve its purpose as it would have to be full protection (even established editors have added unsourced content). Bidgee (talk) 07:16, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Isn't there an edit protect, like the one you did when 3MP was closing down? Could that work? Wally Otto (talk) 11:19, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
It would only stop IP's and unconfirmed accounts from editing and not established accounts (Example). Bidgee (talk) 11:28, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Point taken then. Isn't it a shame that pending changes 2 isn't in proper existance. Thanks for clarifying anyway though, I was a little confused. Wally Otto (talk) 11:35, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

HLWiki

Thank you for your message regarding HLWiki Canada this was my first time uploading a picture. I am had difficulty adding the licence for the picture but believe that it is now done. Would you please be so kind as to tell me whether i did it correctly? It is meant to say creative commons share alike 2.5 Canada and reference to http://hlwiki.ca . Thank you for your help and understanding - cisco — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ciscogiii (talkcontribs) 23:32, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

According to the HLWiki Canada the correct license is Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 Canada but as the license as NonCommercial it can't be uploaded on Wikipedia under the same license or under a free licence (OTRS permission from the copyright holder would need to be sent for it to be uploaded under a free-use license [eg. cc-by-sa-2.5-ca]) or you could have the image a fair use (example of fair use). Bidgee,

Where do you think we are up to with user:CTVDigital1 talk? I have reverted some of their contributions at Griffith, New South Wales. Have just looked at their edit history and the log of warnings. Are we up to request for blocking? I have not requested a block previously and am not sure what is next best step. Bleakcomb (talk) 01:57, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Yes they need to have a block of some sort, they just don't seem to listen or just ignore what that have been warned for. Fact is I was willing to help them if they needed but I've given up on them. Bidgee (talk) 05:16, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

The Wrap LIVE (television program)

RE: Conflict of interest.

Although I am the EP of the show, I was merely fixing up work that an unknown party had already undertaken on the article. This in my books does not constitute a conflict of interest. Furthermore community television deserves to be represented though the Wikipedia Project and the question of notability can be raised about many commercial television shows (but it never is). --Thewizkid93 (talk) 06:22, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Hey, the image was the single cover for an article about the single. But it has been removed by another administrator because the song has not yet charted, just only been released on the radios but there was plenty information about it to make an article. Socceroos

We just wait for our friend to get bored of shouting that some of the Socceroos players are good enough to get picked for Spain right? He says that 2 Socceroos would get selected in all the other teams. Apart from him saying that most cricket countries are not developed or small, well RSA also play football and apart from Japan, all the other qualifiers Australia played were against 3rd world or small Asian countries (as the top 2 qualified, Australia could have lost both matches to JPN, defeated the Arabs and Uzbeks, and still passed) YellowMonkey (vote in the Southern Stars and White Ferns supermodel photo poll) 01:23, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for warning him. I think he's going to be trouble though. Now that I've redirected Point Stephens, New South Wales, he's created Point Stephens which, although cited, is still full of OR. --AussieLegend (talk) 12:38, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Point Stephens should be just a section in the Fingal Bay article. Also another Point Stephens exists in the USA. I would like to deal with it but I've currently have a severe case of the flu and recently lost a family member. Bidgee (talk) 12:45, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

I am in the middle of creating a new entry on a topic not previously covered, I step away for a moment, and some crumbum tosser like "Aussie Legend" comes along, claims it is all wrong, claims it a topic of no importance, claims it is original research, and arbitrarily deletes an hours work ! And when I re-enter it with one or more cites for every sentence, he persists in claiming "it is full of OR". And you want to prattle on about "assuming good faith" ?? CA Technologies

Did you read what I wrote in the edit summary if you check the website, it is CA Technologies on all the (recent) articles and on the sidebar, reflecting the name change of the company this year. I suspect the only reason it says the offical site of the CA Brumbies is because they have been unable to update the graphic, if it was plain text they would have. Look at the headings Captain Hoiles continues on with CA Technologies Brumbies and CA Technologies Brumbies complete scrumhalf roster, articles by the Brumbies Media unit or check in the articles listing the Wallabies team--sss333 (talk) 22:47, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Climate

Hehehe. Data on the page of Bureau of Meteorology (Brisbane) change from time to time. Within three months at least three changes. Now, Bureau of Meteorology removed data of sunshine hours. BoM also made large changes in temperatures, from 29.0°C to 30.3°C in January or 20.9°C to 21.9°C in July etc... I do not know what they are doing there. Subtropical-man (talk) 11:21, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Average's page should always update about every two months but some only update every six and even twelve months. The BoM will be also be doing quality controls on data (slow process when you have 100+ years of data just for one site) and with the sunshine hours, it isn't a surprise as it wasn't correct anyway. Few changes are being rolled out ATM and one of them is ACCESS. Bidgee (talk) 11:53, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Austar Channel Listings

To whom it may concern, this is in reply to your comment regarding my changes to the List of Austar Channels page. I apologise about me adding this section but i believed it should be included on the Austar Channels page as on the Foxtel Channels page the channels are included on different EPG numbers and it should be shown that the channels are also available to Austar subscribers but on different EPG numbers. Please reply with a means of which we could include these channels onto the page as they should be included. Forbesy 777 (talk) 02:16, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Can you please let me know what is an alternative option to the list of channels that I have previously listed and you have removed as they are available to AUSTAR subscribers and they deserve to be shown on the page if FOXTEL can show them on their page (with differing EPG numbers) Forbesy 777 (talk) 00:51, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Free to air [FTA] (Terrestrial) is not part nor transmitted by Austar/Foxtel, listing it in the Austar/Foxtel channel list is wrong since the box which Austar/Foxtel now use is not just a satellite/cable decoder box but it also is a digital set-top box (this is a convenience for the subscriber so that they don't have to worry about needing more AV slots nor the room for a separate set-top box to watch FTA). Bidgee (talk) 04:17, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
That is why i put them under the title "Terrestrial". If it is wrong to have FTA channelds listed on the page then shouldnt the following channels be removed from Foxtel's channel page: EPG100-Channel 9, EPG107-Channel 7, EPG110-Channel 10, EPG127-7TWO, EPG129-GO!, EPG207-7HD, EPG209-9HD, EPG210-ONE HD, and EPG531-ONE SD. Like you and I have both pointed out the channels are transmitted via terrestrial and not via satellite, so if Austar can not list them on their page then these channels should not be listed by Foxtel. Freeview/Digital terrestrial television

Hello. You have been recently reverting a number of edits I made to the Freeview and Digital terrestrial television, and no reasons were given. In future if you don't agree with my edit, please give a good reason or it can't be improved. I think the channel list should be included on one page only, because having it duplicated in two articles means that edits made to it on on of the pages don't get transferred to the other page. Replacing one of them with a link to the other page solves the problem. If you don't agree, give a reason for your opinion instead of treating it like vandalism. Mitchell results

I've reverted these for the moment - what we're looking for is not the declaration, but the statement "these results are final" at the bottom, which Mitchell still doesn't have. Climate of AUS rejection

I do not like how I'm always blocked from adding climate info for Australia. I have links that support my words yet you claim it's plagiarism and when I don't have links you then say it's original research. The climate section of NSW was created by me (in my previous account King Kong 92) I think I have the right to edit it as much as I want to if I have source (and I do), yet I'm still being stopped for contributing. It's annoying and sad.

Oh, and, can you at least ALLOW a second climate table (collapsed) for Sydney? For Bankstown Airport. JUST THAT.

2009-10 Aus

Hi Bidgee - I was just wondering if we had an article on this Weather event. Im wondering as i believe the strong low pressure system mentioned was Tropical Low 08U as the dates fit. Hi Bidgee, Just dropping a line, the "unaccept" button on pending changes was not for undoing a change that is pending. That button is to revoke the acceptance of an already-accepted change. Free to air television channels

Hello Bidgee. I am interested in the 'consensus needed' comment that you made after reverting my edits to Digital terrestrial television in Australia and Freeview (Australia). Does this mean that if no one says that they like the idea of a template for the channel table, it can't be instated into the articles? I'm curious to know how you expect the consensus to be reached. The way I see it, if someone reverts an edit for any particular reason there is definitely disagreement about it, but if no one says that they agree, it doesn't necessarily mean that there is any disagreement. According to this Wikipedia policy, 'any edit that is not disputed or reverted by another editor can be assumed to have consensus', so wouldn't it make more sense to leave the articles with the channel table in template form, and then if anyone reverts it with a genuine reason, or not, we can be sure if there is consensus or not.

I'd also like to know what your opinion is on this matter and the pros and cons. 'Consensus needed' doesn't really say anything about your opinion. Thanks Fruit.bmp (talk) 06:17, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
