WP Russia tagging

edit

Hi, Bhadani! Thanks for tagging the WP Russia-related articles! For future ones, could you also set importance to "low" for all rural localities and to "mid" to all urban-type settlements (cities/towns will be "mid" or "high" depending on size). Best,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 15:12, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes. Sure. Thanks for the suggestions. I will surly do accordingly. Regards. --Bhadani (talk) 15:14, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

St.George's Grammar School

edit

hi
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St.George%27s_Grammar_School
Do you know about this school in Hyderabad.
--Raunak' ' ( .:: Raunak Roy ::.. ) 18:32, 4 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have lived in Hyderabad for sometime, not continuously but for several weeks, from time to time, on my job related assignments. It is a big city and only persons well familiar with the city or its schools may have the full details. However, I found a link … St. George's Grammar School won the boys' and girls' team championship titles in the Hyderabad… from a premier Indian newspapers that reports about an event about this school. This confirms existence of the school. There is also a link from a site of the Government of India which gives name of this school: [1]. There are some other links too: [2]. However, other contents probably require referencing. I will continue to search more information about the school. --Bhadani (talk) 01:28, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Indian Barnstar of National Merit
Awarded to Bhadani , the most prolific Wikipedian from India .Who else than you deserves this most ? -- TinuCherian (Wanna Talk?) - 07:06, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hi Tinujee. Thanks. I feel humbled. For the time being, I am mostly away from India-related pages though following the true spirit of India, I am roaming around the globe tagging pages ... after pages ... with WP templates. Once, my mission of seeing all the countries on the wikipedia universe is over, I shall come back to India-related pages once again. I do remember my earlier commitment to you in response to your last message, and I shall surly come back to you. Regards. --Bhadani (talk) 11:07, 6 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

You can find his photograph in the external link. This is probably the only photograph having survived, since he was executed during the holocaust. Eliko (talk) 08:06, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the information. Whenever I hear of the holocaust, I feel sad for those innocent people who perished for no fault of their own. Regards. --Bhadani (talk) 15:17, 10 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Zen wisdom - A novice was once curious about the nature of the Edit Count. He approached the Zen master and asked, "Zen master, what is the nature of the Edit Count?"

"The Edit Count is as a road," replied the Zen master. "You must travel the road to reach your destination, and some may travel longer roads than others. But do not judge the person at your door by the length of the road he has travelled to reach you." And the novice was Enlightened. --Bhadani (talk) 17:16, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Osmanistan

edit

Just saw your edits on this page. It looks better with more edits, but I just added a Pakistan POV to make it a little neutral.

Also, on your edit in the Istanbul consulate. I left a discussion note, both of us had the same info in regards to the convention, but there was something else from before the rollbakc (something that was added to my original phrase). Lihaas (talk) 22:51, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fine. However, in this encyclopedia, there is no scope for any POV, and the same should be avoided as far as possible. --Bhadani (talk) 02:36, 14 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Inappropriate user name

edit

Reference.

Thank you for letting me know that I was in violation of a Wikipedia policy. I have taken appropriate steps and have done the needful.

On another issue, can I move 'Science and technology in Ancient India‎' to 'History of science and technology in India'? For one thing, the scope of the article exceeds the 'ancient period' and covers the medieval and the pre-independence period as well. The post-independence period should be covered by the Science and technology in the Republic of India article, to which I'll get to shortly.

Also, the excellent article on Chinese science and technology is named History of science and technology in China.

Kindly consider the request and allow me to move it to the said location.

All the best,

South Block (talk) 18:40, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I saw that the article was moved because 'The content of the page is restrictive to its name as it was earlier and not to one to which it was move without any reason'. I updated the content of the page and edited from this version to this pre-move version. The new content covers periods from the ancient to the pre-independence. I plan to further add content to the article. Kindly consider the above mentioned move. South Block (talk) 18:46, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hello Mr. South Block :) Thanks for considering my request for change in user name. It may take some time but it may remove doubts from other people's mind. As regards, the moving the page back to a name as suggested by you, you may consider the move depending on the contents which you propose to add/ have already added. Of course, you may do it - the move as desired by you and done by you earlier. However, please also consider that developing an exclusive page for "Science and technology in Ancient India" may be useful - may be at a later date or as a separate page after the move as proposed by you. Developing such a page may be a long term assignment for us - for you, me, and other editors interested in the subject. Regards and the best. --Bhadani (talk) 03:02, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
In time, I'm more than willing to do research for a seperate article on "Science and technology in ancient India" and perhaps put it up in the early sections as {{main|Science and technology in ancient India}}. Ditto for the 'medieval', 'advent of Islam' and 'European' periods.
But right now, I'm more worried about the Specialised histories mentioned in the India template.
I'm confident that I can bring Coinage, Economy, Literature, Maritime, Military, and to some extent Timeline up to par. In time these can be made better and a whole community exists for doing that but someone has to bring sources, structure, and some respectability to these neglected articles first. And I'm used to deadlines and mass work so I'm going to give it a try.
All the best,
