P.O.D. edit

Hi. Thanks for rating P.O.D. a B-class article. What doyou think, in your opinion, I should do to improve the article into GA-Status? Quetzal123 (talk) 23:26, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

No problem, the article has definitely improved. Write sections about the band's music (describe their music and lyrics, and maybe their stage shows accurately), reception (what the critics and fans have though about the band), and provide some more sources (preferably at least one per paragraph). Remove wikilinks from the non-notable dates. That should do it. --Azure Shrieker (talk) 23:41, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
All right then. Thanks. Quetzal123 (talk) 23:47, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

"fanzine" in christian metal edit

I wasn't sure how really to ask but I know you did alot of stuff on the christian metal article so I thought you might know. It says HM magazine is a fanzine, is fanzine a word?

I just read beyond that... and I now realise that it was the correct term. Sorry for wasting your time. – Jerryteps 10:14, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, fanzine is a word. HM, however, is a magazine while Heaven's Metal is a fanzine. --Azure Shrieker (talk) 12:45, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject Christian Metal edit

With all respect to this project, The WikiProject Christian Metal is not willing to merge. The members of our project are as interested in heavy metal music in general as they are in Christian lyrics. Many of the WP:CMM members are also members of the WP:HMM but not many of us are members of Christian music projects in general. Christian metal is as much a subgenre of heavy metal music as a subgenre of Christian music. There was some kind of misuderstanding with the merge. Personally I though it was about forming a union between projects, not forming a one project and removing the rest. It really would not make sense to merge Christian metal with Christian music project since there are a lot more articles within our scope than within any other Christian music project's. A lot of the other Christian music projects are interested in softer styles of music, but we, for the most part, are not. WP:CMM is also not inactive, currently the members are just more busy writing articles than updating the project page. Good luck on the project and no hard feelings. --Azure Shrieker (talk) 10:50, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you note most of the members of the other projects simply became members of the specific work groups in the new project (i.e. the former CCM Project members are now members of the CCM work group). The thought was that by combining the projects we could unify efforts in editing and formatting the various genre articles. I hope that you will discuss with the members of your project and reconsider. I will leave your work group active and reopen your original project with the Wikipedia council until you a reach consensus. Absolon S. Kent (talk) 13:38, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Barnstar of High Culture Awarded edit

  The Barnstar of High Culture
For your work on the Christian metal page. Just letting you know it is very much appreciated. Keep up the good work! IronCrow (talk) 05:30, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh! And thanks for thanking me, much obliged! IronCrow (talk) 05:34, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you very much! Nice to know someone appreciates my work. To be honest, the current FAC on Christian metal does not seem to lead anywhere since certain users keep bringing up issues that would require major amount of work, and to me it seems that none of my contributions to the article since it was accepted as GA have been constructive. Quite the opposite, it seems to become more and more chaotic. And there simply are not very reliable and comprehensive sources on Christian metal. I have also written all the band articles that I'm interested in. I don't know what to do anymore in Wikipedia. It is also pretty frustrating how the Wikipedia policies keep changing so insanely often. I uploaded many bandlogos and now they are discouraged, what a waste of work. Anyway, thanks again for the Barnstar. --Azure Shrieker (talk) 09:04, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
You're welcome. Yeah, I used to enjoy editing Wikipedia alot more until the policies became sporadic. The edits you've done aren't bad at all, though for some reason as soon as the Christian metal article was seemingly "finished," someone decides that it is unpolished. The sources we have are agreeable (to me) and certainly somewhat viable, more viable than alot of other articles. I'm really confused too. I thoguht we should try for grammar more, but as soon as I finish up doing that, something else is up. But I'm like you: I blame the policies changing too often. As soon as an article is nicely done (or at leave moderately done well), something happens to where it is lower in quality. But yeah, we should try slimming the articles up, maybe, or concentrate more on band articles than on the Christian metal page. What I do not get is how someone (I won't say who) will say "this and this needs to be fixed" but they do not offer to help do the edits. Whatever happened to etiquette in Wikipedia? Heh, You're welcome again, for the Barnstar, just thought you deserved another. IronCrow (talk) 02:50, 2 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Greetings edit

I noticed you added flags to the LoCMB. Sometime ago I had added the 'expandable list feature' (I call it that) to the that list. You can see its implementation here. I believe that this feature is suitable for cleaning up a diverse list as LoCMB, which in its current state is cluttered. Besides that, additional band specific information can be added. Thank you. Weltanschaunng 10:30, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the tip, the current list definitely requires a clean up. Now I'll just have to figure a way to use that feature. --Azure Shrieker (talk) 11:04, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
The code you require for adding that feature can be found on the talk page. I had put it there some time back. Happy editing! Weltanschaunng 15:46, 17 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Adding bands edit

I thought I would send you a note to get some feedback. I want to start adding some bands to the wiki like Fear Not and Magdalen but not sure if it would be a good thing considering there isn't much info on the bands other then some HM Magazine information. I have quite a few albums from bands that aren't on the wiki. I just need feedback if you think adding stubs would be good and should I just leave them off. Please understand I don't want to get into edit wars, or do things that are considered vandalism on wikipedia. That's why I use the talk pages more then editing. I'm also thinking of trying to add images to the pages also for those that don't exist. Let me know what you think, any feedback is appreciated.OfficialDoughboy (talk) 13:58, 25 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

It does not matter if you can not find enough info to write an article longer than a stub, as long as the band meets at least one of the notability criteria on music. Someone else who knows more about the subject may extend the article later, it happens, I've extended band stubs myself a lot too. The band article needs to contain an info that makes them notable enough for wiki, and at least one source, HM is considered a good source. For example, Magdalen contained, if I recall correctly, Ken Tamplin in its line up once, which makes the band meet the criteria #6: contains a notable musician (Ken Tamplin has an article, making him notable for wiki). See Aletheian for example, they have a stub article but they meet 2 notability criterias. Don't get shocked if your article gets tagged for deletion, some of the recent changes page patrollers are too eager to tag things they think are non-notable for deletion. Usually the articles will be kept here if the bands meet one criteria. I've only had one of "my" articles tagged for deletion, Drottnar, and they were kept when I pointed out in that deletion discussion they meet notability criterias. I hope that helps. Feel free to ask more, I'm glad to help. --Azure Shrieker (talk) 16:50, 25 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the speedy reply :) I have bookmarked that page so I can refer to it again. I think I'll start with Magdalen because I know more about them then other bands. If I need help I will definitely ask. Thanks again!OfficialDoughboy (talk) 19:28, 26 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the edits! Even though small they made the page look better! Thanks again!OfficialDoughboy (talk) 20:45, 20 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sure, no need to thank me, just trying to be helpful :-). By the way, I checked the article edit history, and its seemed that you saved the page for wiki quite early, without wikilinks and such. I suggest that you write the possible future articles in WordPad first, take you time to write those, add wikilinks and whatever you can, and then save it to wiki. I do that a lot because it allows me to revise the content better so that I can save a pretty complete article with band templates and everything, and it usually saves from all that hassle of disputed notability. But whatever suits you. --Azure Shrieker (talk) 21:06, 20 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I try to keep managing, editing, updating, and extending these metal articles as much as I can, but I'm getting increasingly busier at my studies and other work. Heh, thanks for thanking me, you're being too cool with me. The unblack metal article really needs some work on the name dropping of the labels and releases and focus on notable stuff, and I'm trying to do something about it. Come to think about it, I've seen the movement being called "Christian black metal" instead of "unblack metal" in the mainstream media mostly; I'm probably going put up a poll on the the discussion page on renaming the page "Christian black metal." --Azure Shrieker (talk) 19:53, 1 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for telling this. It's not the first time that link has been offline, so I think we should just wait for a while that the person who maintains that fansite pays the domain payments, and then it hopefully comes online again. If not, I'll remove it. Actually I should just remove the whole citation right now because fansites are not really approved in Wikipedia as sources, and there are better sources for Antestor. --Azure Shrieker (talk) 17:09, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:The Awakening - Risen.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:The Awakening - Risen.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Fair use rationale for Image:Deuteronomiumpromotionalphoto.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Deuteronomiumpromotionalphoto.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 12:22, 17 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Extol edit

Hey guy, (sorry for me english) I have edited Extol's page and put their most recent style as "Experimetal metal" (The Blueprint Dives). Do you agree with me? I don't know very much (almost nothing) about this style. What de you think about this? Bye. (J.P. Sola Christus (talk) 04:13, 16 March 2009 (UTC))Reply

In my opinion "Experimental metal" is a bit redundant because it just links to the avant-garde metal page. I do agree that Extol were a head of their time in their metal and it was definitely experimental, and Blueprint definitely has it's experimental sides... Well, not that it matters much, but in my opinion "progressive metal" is enough.--Azure Shrieker (talk) 10:19, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Well guy, I see in the "Blueprint" page that the style as a mix of prog metal and post-metal. Do you agree with this? I know almost nothing about post-metal. I also have see in Extol's page "a mix beetween prog metal and post-hardcore. What do you think? Bye(J.P. Sola Christus (talk) 20:58, 16 March 2009 (UTC))Reply

I must admit that it was I who put that "mix of prog metal and post-metal" to the Blueprint page. The critics were comparing Blueprint to bands like Neurosis and Cult of Luna who are post-metal (a mix of post-rock, hardcore, doom, avant-garde), so I thought it was appropriate. I kinda think that Blueprint has post-metal and progressive metal influences, but I could be wrong, it is a difficult album to categorize. I'm not familiar with post-hardcore, but the screaming vocals do sound like some bands that are called post-hardcore, the music on the other hand, do not. Sorry, I'm not being much of a help here. None of the post-metal, post-hardcore of progressive metal tags have any sources for Extol, so feel free to replace them with experimental metal if you wish.--Azure Shrieker (talk) 22:32, 16 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Vaakevandring edit edit

G'day... I changed "Christian black metal" back to "unblack metal" because that is the current title of the Wikipedia article about it. I don't particularly care about which term is used, though. So it's up to you :-) -- leuce (talk) 23:27, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why hello. You know, in my opinion, the "unblack metal" article should be renamed "Christian black metal" because that's what it is. I've just been hesitant to do that because then people would probably make articles for "Christian thrash metal", "Christian death metal" etc. which would be ridiculous. I tend to change "unblack metal" to just "black metal" because I've seen the band members (not just Vaakevandring but others too) and fans come to change unblack out of the description, they don't seem the like the term and I understand why, I mean it has a bit of a parody tinge to it as you can read from the unblack article, and the bands seem to think that the term harms their mission to minister the black metal scene, something like that :-P. --Azure Shrieker (talk) 10:28, 30 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Antestor edit

Hi.

I think that "extreme metal" is better to define the sound of Antestor, because they played Black, Death and Doom metal, they have experimented all these genres. What do you think? (Sorry for the English). Abraços. (J.P. Sola Christus (talk) 00:05, 8 April 2009 (UTC))Reply

Um, in other-language wikipages Antestor are called "Christian black metal". Besides, their last album was definitely black metal, not death metal, not doom metal. The Return... had doom influences and Martyrium had a lot of death/doom, yes. But shouldn't it matter most what they are commonly labeled and what they played on their last album? "Extreme metal" fits better bands like Mortification, Celtic Frost, Sarcofago etc. with obvious thrash influences, in my opinion.--Azure Shrieker (talk) 22:39, 8 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

September 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive edit

There is a backlog elimination drive that is planned to take place during September 2010. One of these happened in May, and another in July; I participated in the latter drive and have signed up for the upcoming one. These elimination drives are organized by the Guild of Copy Editors. The intentions of this drive is to eliminate the copyedit tags from pages that have them after they become copyedited; related goals of this particular drive are to relieve the backlog of the entries tagged since 2008 and to decrease the tagged number of articles to below 5,000. There are merits from participating in this backlog elimination drive, such as learning information that you otherwise may not have learned and possibly earning barnstars. So, if this interests you, then feel free to sign up via the first link's page, where there is more information about this endeavor. Happy editing. Maybe a little. Debating on a band's status tend to leave nowhere; it's a constant subject matter on certain forums. I personally would not add the C-tag to band articles if not necessary, faith is such a personal matter, and I like it when it's kept as an inside knowledge betweeen band and fans. Proposed deletion of Pantokrator (band) edit

The article Pantokrator (band) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The article does not cite any reliable, independent sources that would confirm that this subject meets Wikipedia's notability criteria, and I wasn't able to find sources with my own search.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
