Speedy deletion nomination of User:Augusta Precious Metals Inc.

edit

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Augusta Precious Metals Inc., requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

Hi, Can we create an about page for our company? This is what we did but we got blocked. How can we get unblocked. Augusta Precious Metals Inc. (talk) 14:35, 15 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
There are a few these you have to realize first:
  1. Wikipedia has articles, not pages - a subtle but important difference. Articles are about notable topics that are of interest to the world at large and over a period of time. We look for evidence of significant coverage in multiple reliable sources that are independent of the topic to gauge whether the topic is notable enough for inclusion.
  2. With that in mind, any topic - including a company - isn't entitled to have an article just because it exists. Wikipedia isn't a business directory where companies get to list themselves so they can publicize their existence to the world. A company must meet the notability criteria for companies to merit an article. As previously mentioned, this requires that it already has significant coverage in reliable third-party sources. We have no interest in what a company has to say about itself.
  3. Writing about your own company is an inherent conflict of interest and should be avoided. As well, being employed by the company means that you meet the definition of a paid editor, and therefore are bound by the mandatory policy on paid editing.
  4. Your account name is the same as your company, which violates Wikipedia's username policy. Accounts cannot be named after companies, organizations or groups of people, so you will not be allowed to continue with your current name. In addition, your use of the word "we" implies that several people have access to this account, which is also explicitly forbidden. Accounts cannot be shared for any reason. Only the same single person can access this account for its entire lifetime.
  5. You can request an unblock using the instructions in the block notice above. However, you won't be unblocked if your only interest is to write about your company. If that is true, then consider using an alternative outlet that allows this type of writing. If you'd like to become a single contributor, editing topics that are outside of your conflict of interest, then use the unblock template above and describe other topics you would like to edit.

Hi, Thank you for your reply. We, meaning I but when I talk about a company I use the term "we". We can delete this account. I will not move forward with this account. I was unaware about having a company name. My apologies. Can you delete this account? or am I able to? Augusta Precious Metals Inc. (talk) 20:10, 28 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
