May 2019 edit

Hello, I'm Donner60. I noticed that in this edit to Roseanne Barr, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Donner60 (talk) 04:07, 10 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Anderson Varejão edit

Hi Aprude51. I just wanted to point out to you the origin of the "endearing" and "hustle" statements at Anderson Varejão. Per the NBA ref that was linked there (archived url), the game recap had "He spent 12 seasons with the Cavs, endearing himself to his teammates with his hustle and becoming one of the city's most popular players, known as "Wild Thing" for his all-out style and long, frizzy hair." So the sentence was properly supported, but I'm not going to revert as it is a somewhat clunky sentence to have in the lead anyway. Cheers. DaHuzyBru (talk) 06:20, 10 September 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi - thanks for the post! I did read the article, but a my understanding is that a single commentary source using those specific words does not count as sourcing. For instance, if there’s was a single article that called out Varejão for “weak” effort, I think you’d agree that it wouldn’t be properly sourced to include the word “weak” as a descriptor of Varejao in Wikipedia. It’s also my understanding is that it’s generally best to stay away from including the exact wording from a source, instead trying to summarize what multiple sources are saying. I think the first sentence under “Player Profile” (“Varejão earned the nickname "Wild Thing" because of his wild hair and energetic and relentless style of play.”) is much in keeping with the guidelines of Wikipedia.

Also, just an FYI the first link in the article is broken.
