February 2021

edit

Hello, I'm Robvanvee. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Krsna (rapper), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Also, please see WP:OWN. Robvanvee 13:20, 18 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Reliable sources

edit

See WP:ALBUMAVOID about acceptable sources and those that are not. Genius falls into the latter unfortunately as its content is WP:USERG. Robvanvee 17:18, 18 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

I Googled what you are trying to add and there is nothing official regarding the release. This seems like a futile effort to be honest. Robvanvee 17:22, 18 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi. That is what I wanted to tell you that the artist is not that popular to have reliable sites to promote his albums and songs. So the only source are the YouTube videos for the songs. But for the album, there is nothing. But, as you saw, the information is right and hence I think you should let this pass. Every information in the world cannot be cited for it to be called true. AnDob24 (talk) 17:49, 18 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

It will need to be if you want to add it to Wikipedia. That is what the rules say. Robvanvee 17:51, 18 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi again. I just read through the guidelines for discography as well as for citations. And there is clearly written in the citation webpage that occasional exceptions can be entertained. Also see this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignore_all_rules. I think what I had added is right. Also, one the five pillar of Wikipedia states that Wikipedia has no firm rules. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Five_pillars

AnDob24 (talk) 18:20, 18 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
It actually says "If a rule prevents you from improving or maintaining Wikipedia, ignore it." You are not improving by adding unreliable sources. The other says "Wikipedia has policies and guidelines, but they are not carved in stone; their content and interpretation can evolve over time." If you want to change existing policy, feel free but this is not the way it is done. Anyway, I have explained as much as I can and if you prefer to go against policy, which will inevitably result in you being blocked from editing, be my guest. Robvanvee 18:29, 18 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

I am not going against any policy. It's just that there is no source for the information (Which is just a album name by the way). But regardless of the no source, the information is true. So, it is only fair to write it without the citation which makes it fall in the exception. And I would add a 'citation nedded' if it causes so much trouble to you. Anyway, you are being way to harsh for something that isn't that important. And from what I think, you don't have any knowledge about the artist whose page you are editing. About Kr$na

edit

Hi, I'm Skeptical Sapien, Firstly, I wanted to thank you for your contributions to the article about Kr$na, you've made the article much better than it was before, so thank you for that. Coming to the topic at hand, I just wanted to mention the note you left about his song Makasam in his discography section, specifically about the claim that it is deemed the best diss in Indian Hip Hop as that is a subjective claim and should be avoided according to MOS:PUFFERY. Skeptical Sapien (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 08:25, 21 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you so much for your words. TBH, I always wanted someone to acknowledge my work on this page. I have seen your contributions on differefnt pages too, keep the good work on. Now, on that point: I understand that it MAY come out as a subjective thing on the outside, but you see I haven't named it THE best diss track and for the same reason. Hence, I named it ONE Of the best, which I think any viewer of DHH would agree too. AnDob24 (talk) 09:05, 21 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello again. Thank you for this guideline you shared. After reading this, I understand what you mean. On second thoughts, I feel that the note does sound a bit biased to some extent, due to the way I wrote or the fact itself. Please suggest how it should be modified or removed if it requires. Thanks again, for making me a better editor. AnDob24 (talk) 09:13, 21 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Thanks for replying, I would suggest that we remove the line "It is considered one of the best diss tracks in desi hip hop" and replace it with just "A reply to Muhfaad's diss track "Moksh". While I do agree that it is clearly a very well written diss, we cannot claim this unless it is supported by a reliable source which isn't self published. Regardless, I wish you the very best in your editing endeavours and I hope that we work together on another article some time in the future. Skeptical Sapien (talk) 10:00, 22 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I think we should just remove the "one of the best diss" part and let the remaining be. By the way, Maakasam is actually a reply to all Moksh, Aelaan and Dusshera, so lets just omit that part. I wish you the same for the future too and look forward to us working together soon. AnDob24 (talk) 17:07, 22 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
