May 2022 edit

Hello Alphaj97. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Alpha Jallow, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Alphaj97. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Alphaj97|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 08:25, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

I swore by oath that I do not have any financial stake in creating Alpha's article. I am well aware of the wikipedia policy, so I would never jeopardize or go against it. I do not request a single penny for creating this article and God is my witness. I am not being directly or indirectly compensated for my edits. Alphaj97 (talk) 10:44, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
You are employed by Centric Sports Management and your client is Alpha Jallow. You have admitted this all at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alpha Jallow so you just need to make the declaration on your user page using this template. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Alphaj97|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 12:08, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
How do I make that declaration? I do not have much knowledge about Wikipedia. Could you please direct me. Alphaj97 (talk) 12:22, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
You need to edit the page User:Alphaj97 with the template {{paid|user=Alphaj97|employer=Centric Sports Management|client=Alpha Jallow}} Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 12:33, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Do I have to do that even if am not getting paid for the editing? Alphaj97 (talk) 12:42, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I added it, but it is asking me to use connected contributor paid. Could you please check that. Alphaj97 (talk) 13:03, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please add this one instead then:

Connected contributor template
{{Connected contributor|User1=Your username |U1-declared=yes| U1-otherlinks=(Optional) Insert relevant affiliations, disclosures, article drafts or diffs showing COI contributions.}}

Please cease from editing until you make the necessary disclosure. This is not optional. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 13:59, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

I have done it. Could you please check if I did it right. Alphaj97 (talk) 14:18, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
No, you still have not done it. You need to write the notice at User:Alphaj97 - your user page. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 14:33, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ohhh, this is confusing. Please show me where and how to insert the notice. Alphaj97 (talk) 14:39, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
On User:Alphaj97. If you are unable to do this then you should stop editing per WP:CIR. If you are unwilling to do this then you need to stop editing per WP:COI. Thanks. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 14:40, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Copy this notice onto User:Alphaj97 now. {{UserboxCOI|1=Alpha Jallow}} Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 14:44, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Please bear with me. I have bipolar disorder, so things are different for me.
However, I entered the field you sent. Please check Alphaj97 (talk) 14:54, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
You still have not done what I have asked. It needs to be done at User:Alphaj97. Do you want me to do it for you? Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 14:57, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Please help me do it. I am unable to see the screen clearly. Please do it for me. Thank you Alphaj97 (talk) 15:03, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest edit

Hello, Alphaj97. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alpha Jallow, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 12:07, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edit to the Alpha Jallow biography. edit

Regarding this edit [1] please read Wikipedia:No original research. Citations must directly support the content they are being cited for. The Encyclopaedia Britannica says nothing whatsoever about Alpha Jallow, and accordingly cannot be cited for his religious faith, or for anything else of relevance to this biography. AndyTheGrump (talk) 22:33, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

It is sad how this citation works. I cannot provide here to proof his faith for Islam, what I know he is a devoted Muslim and fast every Ramadan. He even fast while training and playing. To provide citation to that, I can't. Alphaj97 (talk) 22:37, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I've known a few devout Muslims myself in my time. None of them would consider their faith something to be boasted about in a biography. AndyTheGrump (talk) 22:42, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ohhh no no. I am 46 years old woman. I love sports and I have been following it all my life. Alpha is not such person who get boasted about his faith. However, If the administrator wants to delete the page let them go ahead and do it because I am done making arguments over page deletion. Alphaj97 (talk) 22:47, 1 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I edited the external links to the subject name at Africafeed. Why undo it? Alphaj97 (talk) 22:00, 2 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
The title of the article you linked was 'The Gambian footballer signed and sacked in a day'. Not 'Alpha Jallow'. In the extremely unlikely even that the biography isn't deleted, that source will undoubtedly be cited in the article for what it actually says, given that it is about the only significant coverage of him you have provided so far. If I thought there was any realistic chance of the article being kept, I would have added details of this event to the article body already. Meanwhile, it should clearly be linked in the article, at minimum.
And while I'm here, i see that another of the external links you added [2] describes Jallow as a 'Gambia international'. If that were true, and it was actually verifiable through a credible source that Jarrow played for the Gambian national team, it would quite possibly establish Jarrow's notability per Wikipedia policy. Am I right in therefore assuming that it is false? If so, the external link should clearly be removed. AndyTheGrump (talk) 22:14, 2 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ohhh yeah I got it. Yes the subject played for the U15 across Africa that is why the Gambian International. They have three to four Jallow's that played for the senior National Team, Ousman Jallow, Lamin Jallow and Ablie Jallow. The subject Alpha Jallow was never on wikipedia until now.
Ousman Jallow is the senior amongst them and retired from national duty but the other two are still representing. This is another reason why I created this article for him, so people can stop this confusion of Alpha Jallow and Lamin Jallow. They all came from the same country and tribe but different families.
I visit Africa every year to scout players and this is how I found them all. Alphaj97 (talk) 22:29, 2 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Alpha Jallow did not represent the Senior national team yet only the U15 but I cannot find the source because it was played domestically across Africa. Some of the these African countries do not have media coverage until recently. Alphaj97 (talk) 22:31, 2 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Greetings andy, for how long it will take for the administration to make a decision on Alpha's article? Alphaj97 (talk) 22:12, 4 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
The discussion normally runs for 7 days. AndyTheGrump (talk) 23:01, 4 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
If 7 days runs out and no decision is made, what happens next? Alphaj97 (talk) 23:03, 4 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Am I able to remove the deletion notice if no decision is made after 7 days? Alphaj97 (talk) 23:13, 4 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Discussions go on a list when they reach 7 days, and someone will close it, probably within a day. And, unless something significant happens in the meantime (i.e. someone finds the sources required to meet Wikipedia notability requirements), I think it is safe to assume that the article will be deleted, since the consensus seems entirely clear.
And no, you aren't permitted to remove the notice. It stays until the discussion is closed. AndyTheGrump (talk) 23:20, 4 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Noted and thanks for your feedback. Quick question; in case it is deleted, can it be created in the future? Alphaj97 (talk) 23:23, 4 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
If the article is simply recreated, it will be deleted immediately. The only way Wikipedia is going to have an article on Jallow is if the necessary sources become available - which I think it is safe to assume will mean that he progresses further in his career, and attracts in-depth media coverage. AndyTheGrump (talk) 23:42, 4 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Understood. Thank you Alphaj97 (talk) 23:51, 4 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
