Scores (Restaurant) edit

Hi can you please remove that speedy delete tag? I am not trying to spam, and I will continue to improve the article. Improve Scores (restaurant) yourself to make it less like an ad if you want. Please atleast just remove the tag. Thanks so much. ;) Kanata Kid (talk) 20:54, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lehigh County Politics: Swing District edit

What's the protocol for removing the "swing district" sentence regarding the 15th Congressional district now that a fact template has been added? The only sources I could find where the 15th was mentioned in this context were minor pro-labor, pro-Democratic articles and blogs that were beating the drum during the last election. Every source without an ax to grind indicates that the district has swung only once in 32 years and otherwise hasn't had any elections that didn't go solid Republican, despite the Democratic plurality. On the basis of WP:VER, I think the sentence should be removed, and unfortunately, the Template:Fact page doesn't provide any guidance on this Thanks much. Allreet (talk) 04:53, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Personally, I'd hit it with the [citation needed] tag (as you did), and would remove in a week or two if not addressed. Alphageekpa (talk) 10:35, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Matthew Helms edit

What the Hell man? What do you meen no notability? Daniel Christensen (talk) 10:51, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I just looked at Scores restaurant or whatever, you took the speedy deletion tag off of that, an article with 1 or 2 sentences that includes the freakin' motto of the place, but you rain hell fury on my decent article? y Daniel Christensen (talk) 10:56, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, but the article does not "indicate the importance or significance of the subject," and the subject appears unnotable at best. Quoting WP:BIO, "The topic of an article should be notable, or "worthy of notice"; that is, "significant, interesting, or unusual enough to deserve attention or to be recorded."" "A person is presumed to be notable if he or she has been the subject of published secondary source material which is reliable, intellectually independent, and independent of the subject." Furthermore, for actors... "Has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television, stage performances, or other productions.Has a large fan base or a significant "cult" following. Has made unique, prolific or innovative contributions to a field of entertainment." From my observations, this individual fails all criteria for notability. Also, you are incorrect regarding the "Scores" restaurant article, as it was I who nominated it for deletion... I did not remove the deletion tag. Gang Reference edit

Can we please correct the reference to all the gangs in Allentown. I have read the article referenced as a source several times and it does not state that all of the listed gangs have a presence in the city of Allentown. I am very familiar with the city and law enforcement in it and the only listed gangs that have an established presence are the Bloods and to a lesser degree the Latin kings. A few other locally based semi organized gangs exist but certainly not any of the other Latin American ones mentioned.

If you can provide a source that states otherwise please do. If not the entry, and certainly the reference, should be deleted.

Below is the text of the Article I obtained from The Morning Call. It states the gangs you have noted have been identified in the "region". This includes Bethlehem, Easton, the slate belt, the Reading Area, Western New Jersey and beyond. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.115.242.103 (talk) 17:57, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

[newspaper article copy & paste removed ... posting violates copyright] Alphageekpa (talk) 18:16, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

First, if you would like to have a discussion about this, I'd recommend creating a user account rather than posting anonymously. Second, this discussion should be taking place on Allentown's talk page, not my personal one. Regarding the matter at-hand, the article is using the term "region", meaning "Allentown." I'll give you the benefit of the interpretation, and expand that to "Lehigh Valley." As such, I've modified the copy in the Gang Presence section of the article to reflect "Allentown and/or the Lehigh Valley region." Either way, the statement remains both true and applicable to the article in question. You might also want to review the archives regarding this section, as a number of discussions have taken place regarding it. Alphageekpa (talk) 18:16, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Seeking block to vandal edit

Hi, stranger! As you know, user Inclineplane has been adding negative comments to the Cedar Crest College page. I've reverted these at least four times as vandalism, and you reverted the comments as well. What's the procedure for working towards blocking this individual? Most people cease and desist, so I've never had to deal with this before. I've already posted a vandalism welcome on User:Inclineplane's page, which I set up hoping to warn him/her the next time he/she signed on. If you will, please post a response either here or on my talk page. Thanks. Allreet (talk) 16:36, 27 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hiya, Allreet. I think the best course of action is what you're pursuing at this point. Clearly, the user is trying to make a point about at grudge he/she has with the college. Wikipedia is not the place for that. protection is an option, but might be rejected because the user's edits do not appear to be in bad faith. The user's edits also do not appear to violate WP:3RR, so a block might be difficult. I intend to keep reverting the addition, and tagging the user's talk page... hopefully they'll get the idea and either cease and desist, or open a dialogue on the article's talk page. Alphageekpa (talk) 12:06, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the reply. According to WP:AIV, the first couple edits might have been in good faith, but the repeated edits qualify it as vandalism. Based on that, I've posted an intervention request, and suspect that initially this will result in an administrator-generated warning. But we'll see. Allreet (talk) 14:00, 29 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

ty for cleanups on this page. The editors at Talk:List of people on stamps of the United States seemed to reach consensus that "People who have neither their likeness or name on a stamp, but are documented by the United States Postal Service as being the subject of a stamp" belong at that list (that or they just gave up). Artists of stamps of the United States looks like a better list to me.
