Hi, I noticed your edit to Tantra massage here. Firstly, I reverted it because the sentence you added was in the tone of an ad, not an encyclopedia. Secondly, your username looked odd, so I googled it and found [1]this. You should be aware that editing Wikipedia on behalf of a company is not allowed as a conflict of interest (see WP:COI), and additionally, having a username that basically states you're here on behalf of a company is not allowed (see WP:PROMONAME), basically for the reason that it's a blatant COI. Hi, thank you for your message, my apologies for the mistaken tone of the edit. I did not realise that I could not do this with a company, as I read this: https://www.tigauk.com/blog/89-how-to-create-your-company-wikipedia-page and I thought I could put up a company page and it says in the article you have to edit about 10 pages to qualify? I guess that is incorrect? I was just trying to do that and going by the rules of the editing etc. But if it is not allowed I will cease all activity. Please confirm. I'm sorry to say that whoever wrote that article is lying or themselves badly mistaken. "Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide" summarizes what counts as a conflict of interest and how to avoid them, and the second bullet point is:
  • Do not edit or create articles about yourself, your family or friends, your organization, your clients, or your competitors.
You might also find the pages "Wikipedia:Help available for editors with conflicts of interest" and "Wikipedia:When your boss tells you to edit Wikipedia" useful to read. LilacMouse (talk) 02:02, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ok, thank you for letting me know. However, I did not edit any articles in that nature, I was given those suggestions to edit by Wikipedia, I just clicked on them randomly. AlkaWay Water (talk) 02:10, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's fair. Your username is still inappropriate due to being an organization username (see WP:PROMONAME again), as users are supposed to register as themselves and not as a representative of a company. With the username you have right now, it looks like you're only here to advertise your business, and that's not something Wikipedia is for.
If you want to edit Wikipedia to make it a better encyclopedia, that's fine. But you shouldn't try to use Wikipedia as free advertising. It doesn't work and it just annoys people. LilacMouse (talk) 02:18, 22 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your username

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "AlkaWay Water", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you.
