User:204.38.4.94 edits to Clock

Hi. I noticed that you Pewwer42 and left vandalism warnings on User:204.38.4.94's talk page, regarding his/her edits to clock. But I couldn't find any edits by that user in that article's edit history. Was it a different article with a similar name? I'm just curious, because I left a warning on that user's page two, and wasn't sure if I should make it a "final" warning or not. Nightscream (talk) 22:27, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

You should notice the warning I left was done two years ago (March 2008)! Undoubtedly it is a different user so it warrants a Level 1 or 2, not 4! -- Alexf(talk) 23:07, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

If the company is notable and you don't have a conflict of interest, go ahead and write one. When you have a conflict of interest, things get dicey as you are more prone to have a non-neutral point of view. -- Alexf(talk) 02:06, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Anon IP User talk:72.248.63.158 continues to vandalize articles.

Hello, User talk:72.248.63.158 continues to vandalize articles past its final warning. I noticed you last blocked it and followed the Admin link at the top of its talkpage to notify you.--Morenooso (talk) 15:19, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the info, but the proper venue for reporting is at AIV. -- Alexf(talk) 15:24, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks you

Thanks for the heads up Alexf. After years of copy and pasting warnings, vandal and other, and shuttling back and forth between two windows, I thought that I had finally memorized the warning templates enough to type them in from scratch. Seems I was leaving out one thing though the "subst:" that you pointed out. I would have gone on forgetting it without your note so thanks again and happy editing. MarnetteD | Talk 20:13, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

No need to type from memory. There are automated programs you can use, or as I do, just save some of the most common in a .txt file and copy/paste from a text editor (such as Notepad). Much easier, faster, efficient and less typos. -- Alexf(talk) 20:52, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Robert E. Lee

Hi there!

I just received your message concerning Robert E. Lee. Would you mind telling me what I exactly did to the article that you apparently considered an "unconstructive edit"? I really don't remember. However, I definitely did not assume to be violating! Thanks in advance! Tim Truman —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.189.156.114 (talk) 10:57, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

I've no idea. Surely you don't expect me to remember an edit from early 2008 (over two years ago!) without you providing a diff? I would appreciate it if you followed procedure and started a new section for a new item in Talk pages, instead of tagging along inside whatever other unrelated subject was there before. Thank you. -- Alexf(talk) 12:51, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

User 96.242.199.166

Hello again Alexf. You previously blocked this 96.242.199.166 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) for vandalism. The IP has returned to perform the exact same edits as before and has added this piece of nonsense [1] to another editors talk page. I cam here first since you familiar with the situation. If you want me to go to AIV instead just leave a note here on your page and I will be glad to do so. Thank you for your time. MarnetteD | Talk 21:27, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

I'll look into it but you should always go to AIV instead of asking particular admins. It's faster and more efficient, as any admin on duty will then act on it, as opposed to waiting for a particular admin which might take days to log in and see the message. -- Alexf(talk) 21:30, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Thinkers 50 deleted March 3

13:10, 3 March 2010 Alexf (talk | contribs) deleted "Thinkers 50" ‎ (A7: Article about a web site, blog, web forum, webcomic, podcast, browser game, or similar web content, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject) Dear Alexf

Please restore my page So readers can find fifty Notable Thinkers.

I didn’t see this link when I first discovered that the Thinkers 50 and the Crainer/ Dearlove pages were deleted. I was a bit shocked. I didn’t see your link at first. You have a very friendly page and I feel that I can talk to you about this. Will the haiku do it? If not. . . I have been using Wikipedia for so long that I really wanted to make a contribution myself, which I did by posting a page about Thinkers 50 last October. Somehow I made a mistake, and you pulled a page that I truly felt met all the criteria and standards that I studied for weeks. I'm a writer who has been published in journals such as HR Focus and my local newspaper. I became interested in management thinking about 10 years ago and have come to admire many who make it onto the Thinkers 50 list. Some of my favorites are Howard Gardner, Chris Anderson (TED curator), and Malcolm Gladwell. Some thinkers I didn’t know, but I know of their ideas like micro credit founder Muhammad Yunus. About the time Thinkers 50 was going to publish the 2009 list, I noticed that Wikipedia did not have a Thinkers 50 page. I thought that was strange since the list has been published since 2001. I am not much of a computer programmer, but I decided to try to put up a page. The Thinkers 50 is a major bi-annual award given to the top management thinkers of our time. These ideas and these people often reflect the zeitgeist of business for decades. I know of no other list or website that allows the average non-business person to go to one place for a snapshot of these leaders’ thoughts and to see a video interview. CK Prahalad, Malcolm Gladwell, Paul Krugman and Steve Jobs lead the list. Thinkers of the top business schools appeared on the 2009 awards list, including the Michigan Business School, Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and Harvard Business School. Forbes Online, The (London) Times, and The Times of India among others reported the results, thus corroborated the authenticity and news value of the awards. I made sure that I listed the most important news organizations on the Thinkers 50 page that was just pulled. Since I am doing this on my own time, I didn’t get around to placing links on the Wikipedia pages of those receiving the award for several months. Thinking it would be helpful to Wikipedia readers to be able to hop directly to the Wikipedia page on Thinkers 50, I decided the easiest thing to do was make an internal link. Please know that if I erred in any way on trying to be a good Wikipedia contributor, I am sorry. I would very much like to correct any mistakes, if I could just understand the line I seemed to have crossed unintentionally. I do realize how hard it must be to make sure that all content meets Wikipedia's high standards -- and that's why you are such a prized resource throughout the world. If you could guide me on how to fix my posting, or in how to manage links to the Thinkers 50 page on Wikipedia, I would be happy to make things right immediately. This was my first attempt at trying to expand the scope and depth of Wikipedia, but I hope -- with your coaching -- that I can be a regular resource for you.

Thank You Kpbizbuzz (talk) 00:52, 12 March 2010 (UTC)kpbizbuzz

Sorry but the article was properly removed as the summary said. No references or reliable sources given. The entity's website is not an objective independent reference. If you want, it can be userfied for you to work on, assuming you can show its notability. Could you please next time follow directions and provide a redlink? Also, try not to be too verbose. We are all busy and and extended treatise plus Haiku is not what we'd like to wade through. A simple, one paragraph explanation of why you think the article should be restored (plus a redlink) would suffice. Thank you for your attention. -- Alexf(talk) 13:33, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
Okay. I'll go back to the manual. Kpbizbuzz 16:38, 12 March 2010 (UTC)kpbizbuzz —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kpbizbuzz (talkcontribs)

national images

I was wondering if you can help me obtain a commons template like the one of Presidencia [2] but for the MinDef [3] and EMC [4]. The otrs method seem bit complicate to me and there are plenty of articles could benefit from their images. abrazo --Jor70 (talk) 13:11, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Sorry but it is out of my expertise. OTRS is complex and I have nothing to do with it. The same goes for Commons. I am far removed from those issues. -- Alexf(talk) 17:30, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Page on Dre All Day

Hi Alex,

You deleted the page I created. Can you give me insight on what was incorrect on the page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by ThinkBrownINK (talkcontribs) 21:54, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Please read the instructions at the top of the edit page and be so kind as to supply a redlink so I can take a look. Thanks. -- Alexf(talk) 22:19, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Plese undelete my ED comics page

Hello, my page ED comics was deleted while I was still in the middle of trying to fix it so it would fit wikipedia standards.I really really want it back so uh please please please undelete it. Oh and can you tell me why it said i need sources when i listed it's primary website with most of the data i listed.

Jarment —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.165.219.83 (talk) 19:25, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Hello. Please follow procedure. Post a redlink to the article in question if you want me to do your research for you. Second please read about notability requirements and about sources. Its primary website as you put it would not be an independent and verifiable source, and definitely not a third party source. -- Alexf(talk) 19:45, 17 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. If i were to list some things ED comics created or to somehow place it in other categories and make a biographical page on the creator would it possibly stay up if I only listed those and it's website or would it get deleted again? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.165.219.83 (talk) 20:21, 19 March 2010 (UTC)
I am not saying they are not notable. I'm saying it has not been shown. Therefore I can't answer your question. Please read the linked pages. Other pages that may be helpful to you to understand how Wikipedia works are The Five Pillars. Lastly, if you have not written WP articles before, maybe Your First Article will also help you understand. Good luck. -- Alexf(talk) 20:35, 19 March 2010 (UTC)

Sockpuppet?

Hi there~! Could you help me out with this troublesome editor, I refer to his edit here on the article page of Singapore and a somewhat similar entry by another editor earlier on, both of which smells to me like sockpuppetry at work here. Our country's official account is that we are looking at Sanskrit text instead of the Tamil text the editor chose to reintroduce, which is nothing short of being a factual error. I have warned the both of them (or is it the same person???) about this issue but they do not seem to understand. Thoughts? --Dave ♠♣♥♦1185♪♫™ 16:47, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

It could be but sometimes it's hard to tell. In the case of a strong suspicion you can look at WP:SOC and report them to WP:SPI. -- Alexf(talk) 16:52, 18 March 2010 (UTC)
  • Thanks for prompt reply! Technically, is he considered to be in breach of WP:SOCK if the edits are almost the same? I mean, I look at it again but the only diff that sets them apart is the addition of the citations, which is just a translation of the Tamil text and has nothing to do with actually citing the origin of how the name got there in the first place~! Indeed, our history text says it is Sanskrit and here we have a person who lives in India and has never stayed in Singapore before, telling us now that our "story" is wrong? How weird can it be~!? --Dave ♠♣♥♦1185♪♫™ 17:08, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Computer University, Mandalay

Hello, you recently deleted this article after I tagged it and a group of similar ones as A3 candidates because the only content was an external link which to me seemed to be dead at the time. The other similar articles have been improved to non-speedyable stubs (examples Computer University, Magway, Technological University, Magway). Looking at them the external links now seem to be working - I assume the website or server was down when I initially checked and tagged and I was wondering if you could restore this article (possibly to my userspace so that a similar stub could be created while retaining the history. I am sorry for having wasted your time but the article which had existed for several hours and appeared to contain only a dead link seemed like a clear A3 candidate. Hello. I am requesting your assistance with a vandal. Has been warned many times. Still vandalizing pages, adding nasty content. 195.194.57.195 See [[5]]

Thanks,

Thanks. Vandal blocked. Note: For the future, it is more efficient and faster to post to AIV so any admin on duty can take immediate action. -- Alexf(talk) 23:40, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for your help. You may have noticed that I previously had tried to post on AIV but did not format it correctly. I do think the page could be set up in more user-friendly format for newcomers like myself.
