Igloo problem

I keep getting the following error: Warning: igloo server returned an error: igloo-fail-auth: the server received your request but actively chose to refuse it. Loading stopped. I haven't managed to use Igloo even once till date, because of this error. What do I do? --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 13:41, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Igloo is restricted to whitelisted users only - it clearly states on the installation page that you must ask me if you want access. I will add you to the whitelist. Ale_Jrb^talk 21:53, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Igloo says "igloo has closed

Sorry, I only just saw this. =/ Does it give you this error immediately, or does it let you use it for a while before doing it? This error, as it suggests, occurs because it could not load required information from the server. Ale_Jrb^talk 23:15, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Igloo

Unfortunately, no. It has no problem with Macs afaik, but Safari refuses to import external Javascript code after page load, which is how igloo runs. If you get Firefox or Chrome for the Mac, it should work. let me know. Ale_Jrb^talk 18:35, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

oh this is fun

I'm really enjoying this igloo nonsense =). k- a few things I've noticed in the last 30 minutes of my play time. 1. It does work fairly well on Mac OS X w/ Firefox. 2. My biggest complaint is that it kept disconnecting frequently. I am on wifi but I don't know if that'd affect it? And 3. In terms of what's probable vandalism, I have some suggestions for "key words" to add.. Other than that, it's great! A8UDI 21:59, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Heh - I'm glad you like it. For the disconnecting, this is a combination of a poor server and your internet connection speed. I occasionally disconnect, but not that often. This should improve if I move it to a better server as well. For the probable vandalism, be aware that igloo assesses users - not their edits. The highlighting system that flags profanity only kicks in after an edit has been loaded (when you click on it). I would be interested to hear about anything it isn't flagging that it should be, though (the flagger is the purple highlight). As for vector, I might consider it in the future, but I really hate it and am currently working on some other features, soo... Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I can't stand the monobook skin, but seeing as igloo has its own window its not a big deal. Monobook is so confusing, with all the tabs at the top etc, vector is much cleaner. But ya, just a suggestion. Seriously tho- awesome job with this. A8UDI 23:35, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

another suggestion

Sometimes when I revert a vandalism (the old fashioned way with rollback) it will revert the edits as it should by one user, but sometimes someone else has already undone an edit, so that the vandal fighter only gets some of the vandalism. Normally, this is no big deal with Twinkle, I can just jump back to a previous version. However, with Igloo, this is not achievable. You are adding a history function for this reason, I think I read, correct? A8UDI 23:40, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

I am indeed working on a history function. It was enabled for a while, but it wasn't working properly, so I switched it off again. When I get round to fixing it, you should be able to restore any edit in the page history, yes. Ale_Jrb^talk 23:42, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Idea for a future version of igloo

Would it be possible for igloo to warn users who are reverting an editor with say, over 500 edits? An editor that I've accidentally reverted brought it up; it would be great to prevent accidental reversions of established editors. Igloo WL

Hi there! I saw A8UDI using Igloo a few days ago, and was rather curious -- I was about to add the script to my monobook when I noticed that it was restricted to whitelisted users. Would it be possible to be added to the whitelist? :) Chris Rocen (talk) 14:32, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

(edit conflict) As for unstable testing, I'm used to that, and would be happy to take a look through the code as well (if you'd like :)) -- I know how rollback works, I've used it on a private wiki which I run (albeit not so frequently as it would be used here due to the privacy of the wiki) and it seems relatively straightforward, if your concern is acquaintance with guidelines and policies surrounding it, I read through them a couple of times before my RFR request. Perhaps in the future when all the kinks are out I'll give it a whirl again. One of the factors that kind of screwed me up was that when I made a mistake and reverted a GF edit, all the future edits from that person were treated as vandalism and .. yeah, I clicked too fast. Igloo Feedback

Hi there Ale jrb. I am corrently working on a tool tentatively-named CollabRC which works similar in manner to your tool Igloo. One of the capabilities of this system is that it collaborates with a bot running artificial intelligence to learn and adapt to vandalism patterns. After discussing with some others in IRC, it was suggested that perhaps I contact you; since Igloo is still in development, there is potential that you might be willing to adapt it so that it also feeds information to this bot after a revert is done, increasing its learning pool. Naturally, I don't want to force this on you and it's totally your decision; additionally, this is something that is somewhat down the road as this project is just getting started. I'm not quite clear: you intend to train a neural network using reversions made by people using existing tools in order to build an anti-vandalism bot? Or you intend to simply made a better distribution server for manual reversion clients? Either way, I would prbably be willing to feed reverts made using igloo to an external source at some point in the furture, but as few people are currently using the tool as it is still in development, I'd suggest you'd be better off approaching huggle. Hey. With all information, Wikimedia's m:Privacy policy is followed. In addition, there are no 'volunteers' who will ever have access to the information (I, of course, could access the information if I so chose), and the abuse tracker (the script which records iglooNet requests and data including the originating IP address), though not the server log, is usually cleared every month. Be advised, however, that it is likely that the iglooNet server is less secure than the Mediawiki ones, and although I make every effort to ensure data is secure, I don't take responsibility for any data that is obtained by another party - if this is unsuitable for you, you mustn't use igloo. CSDHelper feature request

Hi there and happy Saturnalia Since the current speedy declined notification can sound somewhat patronizing to experienced users, could you modify the script to allow the admin to choose to send a "notification light" instead, i.e. one that only says "I declined speedy on X because of Y" without that "please read WP:CSD..."?
