Madonna albums discography edit

Hi, please don't add a user profile from Amazon as a source for record sales. See Wikipedia:Reliable sources before changing figures. Thanks, Spellcast (talk) 11:14, 19 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Madonna Albums Discography edit

Please provide a website that actually contains all the sales needed. Please include only one site so that the sales will be neat and consistent. The link you currently provided (http://madonna.com/music/?v=aa&a=1) does not include the necessary information that is needed for worldwide sales. I would suggest 2 websites that have all the sales of all of her albums. They are:

Also, some of the most official sources in the world have said Madonna sold over 200 million albums. [3][4] The totals for my first source is 185.2 million. The totals for my seconds source is 184 million. This means that some of her album sales are too low. However, since these are the two most qualified sources I found. I will choose between them. In the end, I chose to use my first one because it is more consistent with the other scraps we found. Also, I do not think the sales for Evita (6.5 million) and GHV2 (5.5 million) are that accurate. And that will be the sales that I will be editing it to. If you find a better or more reliable source, then we can change it. Please notify me so I will know as well. Thank you. HardCandy08 (talk) 20:04, 9 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Thanks for your message. As I told you many times fans websites are not official sources, even worldwidealbums.net is consider spam by Wikipedia, I have some fans website and sales are very similar to yours, http://www.world4madonna.com/charts/ sales are not to different. In http://www.amazon.co.uk/Top-Biggest-Selling-Madonna-Albums/lm/37BXBHN8JKB68 sales are a bit lower but those are until 2004, them is normal to have more now, I agree with your sales but in the case of Confessions on a Dance Floor I am sure they are not 12 million, I already put a reference from Warner Bros. Records and they said that sales are over 8 million here the link, http://www.marketwire.com/mw/release.do?id=849268 , you can read the last paragraph and you will see what I said, this is official source, in United world chart is 7.5 million, http://www.mediatraffic.de/top-album-achievements.htm , but that is while the album was in the top 40, we have to admit that 12 million is to much if we count how low are sales the last 3 years.--Albes29 (talk) 10:04, 10 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi. To clear up any confusion, I was trying to inflate Madonna's album sales so that they add up to 200 million before the release of COADF. I realize that it is wrong now, so I will change it back to what I think is a pretty reliable fan site. It is from beautifulmadonna.com. Since many sources have said that she sold 200 million, this one is the closest. Except for AL, which sold 5 million, not 6.5 as the site states. Erotica sold 6.5 million, not 5.5, also. SOrry for my recent mistakes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by HardCandy08 (talkcontribs) 02:08, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rihanna edit

Please don't write that GGGB has only shipped 1.6 in the USA, cause it has been certified 2times Platinum by RIAA, so it has absolutely sold more than 2 millions, and the total of my source is 2,064,000+...

If you would, please take part in the discussion at Talk:Good_Girl_Gone_Bad#Edit_warring, to help resolve issues as to why there is edit warring going on; even if you agree with how the page looks at the moment, discussing this with dissenting editors will keep the article stable once it is unprotected. Rep edit

I replied on my talk page. Also try not to remove talk page warnings. People will think your a bad faith vandal if you do that, I've found that it only makes people more suspicious of you. You are allowed to blank your talk page, it just looks bad. WP:ARCHIVEING would be a better solution. — Realist2 18:25, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Japanese sales are always difficult. Currently I don't know any reliable sources that document and archives sales figures for Japan. My guess is we will have to wait for it to be certified in Japan (shouldn't take too long) or wait for her record company to release sales figures. — Realist2 19:15, 7 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Dear Albes29! You didn't see the reference from this one: from official http://shakira.com/discography/index/album/albumId/7/tagName/Albums The reference you used from biography of Shakira - it's old biography and wasn't changed for a long time. Yo he tomado de algunas otras. --> RUL3R*flaming | *vandalism 19:04, 9 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I Am... Tour edit

Saludos! - RUL3R*trolling*vandalism 00:27, 23 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree with you about the I Am... Tour; I was just wondering why Yashar1 continued reverting once you explained it on the discussion page and edit summary.--Overkill82 (talk) 01:08, 23 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

The Fame Monster edit

Actually I don't think The Fame Monster can be labelled as a studio album since it was released in mostly countries as a re-release of The Fame. It also charted in some countries as The Fame. Billboard itself labelled it as an EP (the one-disc Fame Monster). I'll try to start a new discussion about it in the talk page. By the way, English is not my first language too :) Decodet (talk) 16:49, 29 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Blackout sales edit

Because those sources are not reliable at all. OK, basically what you´re saying is that Blackout and Circus sold almost the same amount of copies. Seriously? Compare Circus´certifications with those of Blackout.... There´s a BIG difference!! Blackout didn´t even manage to sell a million copies in the States or Europe. Like I´ve said before, as fans we should be proud of her sales. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Txtcircus (talkcontribs) 17:32, 22 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Laundry Service edit

TbhotchTalk2 Me 16:18, 23 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Rated R (Rihanna album) edit

Why r u removing the sourced statement about the album's worldwide sales from this article? Dan56 (talk) 21:53, 7 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

RE. The sales figure for Feb. just serves as another tracking of the album's sales, not much different from telling what it sold in its third week on Billboard.

Please stop changing this figure. We use the highest amount reported by a WP:RS. Frankly, I don't care what her label gave her, and that doesn't matter. Daily News is a reliable source and they report a higher figure, therefore we use that higher figure. –Chase (talk) 20:13, 19 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

  1.   Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Hell-O (Glee). Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Sources edit

Actually per WP:Reliable sources published books and magazines are considered reliable sources. If you really wanted to check the Billboard Brasil Magazine you could obtain a copy. Yes it would be hastle e.g. you'd have to travel to get one (visit library etc.) but that doesn't make it any more/less reliable. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 13:48, 5 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

I know exactly what you are trying to say because almost a year ago I made a similar argument to another user. Essentially, your saying how do we know that someone hasn't made up the chart position etc. However, if you were to use a book source you are not asked to produce images of that source to prove what you are saying is true. E.g. take a look at 4 Minutes (Madonna song) (which is a featured article - amongst the best work on wikipedia). It too uses book sources. Per WP:REF a published and reputable book or magazine is a WP:Reliable source. Unless you can show me a policy page which says "published book/magazine sources are not allowed with a url or picture" then what you are saying is incorrect. — Lil_niquℇ 1 [talk] 14:00, 5 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Re:Hold It Against Me edit

Hi! You can now create a table, as there are two certifications. For Swedish certifications, just add the link to mainpage (Hitlistan.se) and format using {{Cite web}}. In the template, fill title as "Sveriges Officiella Toplista (Certifikat)" and publisher as "Sverigetopplistan". Done. If you have any doubts, feel free to ask me.
