WP:COI edit

There is now an ongoing discussion concerning the possible COI as highlighted in the Greeks for the Fatherland talk page. I encourage you to respond there and clear the air as soon as possible. Thanks. NikolaosFanaris (talk) 23:08, 22 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

To anyone reading this in the future. The "air was cleared":

  • The mod found no COI
  • The accuser was permanently banned for other violations. AkisAr-26 (talk) 18:12, 28 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Middle ground edit

Hey, shall we take back any accusations or unnecessary claims and edit the article to find the middle ground? If yes, we can remove the section from the incidents and discuss more on the talk page of Greeks for the Fatherland. What do you think? I promise I will do my best to agree with any exaggerated claims. NikolaosFanaris (talk) 16:32, 24 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I have to admit I liked the idea. I mean, I am busy and would much rather have a cooperative interaction than a competitive one. But then I saw you reverted 2 of my edits on greek WP[1] in one go. I could pretend to understand why you reverted my 2nd edit, but reverting my 1st edit is not justifiable; I removed a source that didn't even mention the party for which it supposedly backed a claim[2].
To summarize:
  • you post the Middle ground proposal at 16:32
  • then you revert 2 of my edits in one go at 17:46
    • through which you reintroduce a source that doesn't even mention the subject it's posted on
I really don't know what to say anymore. AkisAr-26 (talk) 22:02, 24 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I reverted both your edits because you once again rushed (and I don't know why!) to edit things without carefully reading the sources. Have a look again at both your edits - you removed the mention about ties to extremism without justifying why, when reputable sources state so. The second edit is also inaccurate because Kasidiaris' new party is mentioned clearly as a far-right group. Have another look and let me know if you have any questions. With that said, I am still happy to find middle ground with you. Shall we? NikolaosFanaris (talk) 22:16, 24 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I didn't remove the mention of extremism. I moved it in the relevant section (2nd edit). Also, there's no mention of GreeksFTF in the link I removed (1st edit). Did I miss it? If so please quote the related part in the source where it mentions them. AkisAr-26 (talk) 05:15, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
You responded to another user, yet you did not respond to my question here. I wish we could indeed find a solution as you suggested, but seeing you weren't.. 'accurate'(?) in the description of the edit reverts, unfortunately, you leave me no choice. I'll have to add our interaction into the report. The positive parts (your suggestion for peaceful resolution) will be included of course so that mods can take it into account. Along with other parts. To make it more fair, I'll try to use the style of editing you prefer in wiki articles. Let me know if I should improve anything. AkisAr-26 (talk) 07:41, 26 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
It's unrelated to EN Wikipedia, pal - move to the Greek one and ask me questions there. You seem to know the policy so well, why bother doing this here? NikolaosFanaris (talk) 08:23, 26 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Because I don't know the policy so well. Strange as it may seem, 30 years of doing math and documentation help me learn fast less complex systems like WP. Additionally I think it belongs here since there's a common link between the Greek-WP edits and the situation here: you. (perhaps a WP rules says otherwise? please link if so).
However, I thank you for the guidance. I'll ask a greek mod if I should post it there as well. AkisAr-26 (talk) 08:43, 26 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I have to point out that you were right about the paper - there was no mention of Greeks for the Fatherland, after closer inspection. Apologies for my mistake! NikolaosFanaris (talk) 10:34, 26 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
As I was typing "apology accepted, I'll delete it from the Noticeboard" (that specific point, that is), I went to see the topic. And it was gone. Turns out you deleted it. AkisAr-26 (talk) 11:03, 26 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Suggestion edit

I will be best to let a third party remove personal attacks. This avoids a you-vs-them dispute. You can make a list and I will look at them. Just list ones that are clear. If debatable, leave it. You are a pseudonymous account and fighting about what is a personal attack just draws more attention (see Streisand effect). As a practical matter what you want to do is get the egregious ones cleaned up quickly and as quietly as you can. Jehochman Talk 13:53, 22 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for helping me. I'm not 100% sure what's considered PA in WP. I'll judge based on real-life; please correct me if wrong:
  • says: "associated with the [far-right] party and tries to mislead readers by distorting facts"[3]
  • made a whole topic accusing me of COI [4]
  • accusing me of COI[5] (an admin rejected his COI-ANI)
That's what I found. AkisAr-26 (talk) 14:50, 22 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
If you have uncertainties about what are and are not personal attacks, then:
If you don't know whether a statement that you are about to make will be seen as a personal attack, don't make it, or reword it, or rethink it.
If you don't know whether a statement that someone else has made is a personal attack on you, then it is best to leave it alone. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:43, 14 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the advice, but I think you misunderstood. I was the victim of PA. The user is now permabanned anyway, so it's solved. Kind regards, AkisAr-26 (talk) 05:20, 14 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Advice edit

I answered your question on my talk page, where you asked me. Assume good faith as to the IP. Do not resume edit-warring. Try to discuss on the article talk page. Robert McClenon (talk) 00:42, 14 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

The IP user's edit-ban expired yesterday, but ok, I'll assume good faith. Being a new user myself, I didn't know if what he did was considered vandalism or not, plus I thought only the 3RR is considered warring. Hence, my reverts.
I posted a message to discuss it with him, per your advice. How long should I wait until requesting semi-protection? Also, when protected can I redo my edit? I feel bad that all my effort went to waste.
Thank you for your time, kind regards AkisAr-26 (talk) 05:18, 14 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
The page has been edited by another user. Additionally, the war-editor has not responded.
Therefore, I assume we can continue editing? I'm mostly interested in small changes (e.g. links, duplicate content). AkisAr-26 (talk) 06:19, 28 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
