January 2012 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada, makes articles harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. In this this edit you violated multiple MoS guidelines. Namely: WP:CREDENTIAL says one should not use academic credentials. WP:STRONGNAT says date format should be per the country, day before month in the case of India. Please try to conform with the manual of style. Muhandes (talk) 10:14, 4 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. In this edit you removed maintenance templates without resolving either issue. The article is still an orphan. It still uses academic boosterisms (like ", the academic focus and approach is a unique blend of design, creativity and objectivity with a social purpose"). Please don't remove maintenance templates without resolving the issues. Please also peruse WP:EL as that same edit introduced two links against WP:ELNO.   Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary for your edits. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. Muhandes (talk) 10:22, 4 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please do not use styles that are unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Thank you. In this edit you again violate the same MOS guidelines I mentioned above. Please stop that. Muhandes (talk) 10:24, 4 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Avoiding copyright problems edit

Hello. Some of the content you added to School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and a cited source. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source if public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied without attribution. If you want to copy from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to visit me at my talk page. Thank you.
