Hello, Agata Mierzejewska. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions!

I'm Pdebee, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge.

Some pages of helpful information to get you started:

Some common sense Dos and Don'ts:
    Do be bold
    Do assume good faith
    Do be civil
    Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
    Don't spam
    Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
    Don't commit vandalism
    Don't get blocked
If you need further help, you can:
    Ask a question
or you can:
    Get help at the Teahouse
or even:
Ask an experienced editor to "adopt" you

Alternatively, leave me a message at my talk page or type {{helpme}} here on your talk page, and someone will try to help.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
    Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
    Help contribute to articles

    Perform maintenance tasks
Become a member of a project that interests you
    Help design new templates

Remember to always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the   button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to this (your talk) page, and a timestamp.
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

Sincerely, Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 21:53, 20 July 2016 (UTC)   (Leave me a message)Reply

Creating your 'User page' edit

Dear Agata,

Please find, in the section above, one of the Welcome templates which will give you some initial tips on how to find your way around the system as an editor, such as signing your posts on talk pages by using four tildes (~~~~).
Another convention is that we indent successive posts into talk pages by adding an extra colon (:) each time; you can find this explained in more detail at WP:THREAD.
There's quite a bit to get used to at first, but I would suggest that you take the time to follow the links in the Welcome! section above and you'll get familiar with these simple things soon enough!
I would also suggest that you visit your User page (top left, next door to this Talk page), which is still appearing in red. As you will see when you get there, it currently says "Creating User:Agata Mierzejewska" because you haven't actually created it yet; but all you need to do is simply enter some text (anything) and click the Save page button; your user page will then be created and appear in blue from then on. Once you've done that, you'll be able to personalize it to your heart's content later on, and you could look at any other editor's user page to see the many different ways of doing that.
In any case, I wish you well and hope you'll enjoy contributing to our encyclopedia!
With kind regards;
Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 21:56, 20 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of external link from Ratchet (instrument) edit

Dear @Patrick, KGirlTrucker81 just deleted changes I made to "Ratchet (instrument)", and I am not sure why, there is no explanation. Was it my mistake? Thank you Agata Mierzejewska (talk) 11:34, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Dear Agata,
I have now asked the editor to inform you of his reasons for reverting your edit.
Also, if you want to alert another editor, you can do so from your own Talk page, as you've done here, although you also need to "ping" the editor's username, using the {{ping|Username}} template (which changes into @Username: in the resulting message text), and you also need to sign the message, otherwise the "ping" will not work.
So, for example: next time you want to send me a message from here, you can start it like this:
{{ping|Pdebee}} Dear Patrick, ...
I have to go now, but I will be available again later today. All best wishes for now.
With kind regards;

Fixing the revert / How to add a new section / Added 'talk page' templates. edit

Dear Agata,
Just to catch up:

  • Thank you for leaving your nice message of gratitude at my talk page earlier; I am very pleased for you that you were successful in persuading the rollbacker of the useful nature of that particular edit.
  • Now, you can revert the rollbacker's own revert of your original edit; here's how:
  1. Go to the article: Ratchet (instrument)
  2. Go to: View history
  3. Locate his edit
  4. Click on "prev" in: (cur | prev)
  5. Click on "undo" in: Latest revision as of 11:18, 21 July 2016 (edit) (undo)
  6. Go to the Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes) field (below the text)
  7. Keep whatever text is already in the Edit summary, and locate your cursor to the end of that text and leave a space
  8. After that space, enter something like: "Reverted, as agreed with the rollbacker at his talk page yesterday."
  9. Click on the Save page button.
  10. That's it; you're done!

Just a couple of other points, which I hope you will find helpful:

  • When you want to add a new message to a talk page, first you need to click on the New section button (at the top of the page, between the Edit and View history buttons); then, the next page you see will show a narrow window with a title of Subject/headline, which is where you add the section header. The bigger window, lower down, is where you enter the text of your message and signature, as usual. This way, your message will be in its own section, instead of appearing at the bottom of a previous, unrelated, section.
  • I took the liberty of adding two templates at the very top of your talk page; these are used by experienced editors to indicate how they wish to communicate with other users. Of course, if you don't like them on your talk page, then please forgive me and feel completely empowered to remove them.

Finally, feel free to contact me any time and I will try to help you as best I can. Otherwise, consider using the other Help facilities summarized in the Welcome to Wikipedia! section I added at the top of your page yesterday. Once again, I hope you'll enjoy working here, and thank you once again for your contributions to our encyclopedia!

Dear Agata,
You're most welcome! I am pleased that we share an interest in musicology and musical instruments. And, of course, a passion for music itself!
