Pinging people
editHello, I know that Wikicode is a pain to learn, but I saw you trying to talk to Jfdwolff at stroke. I expect he will see your message, but in the future to be really sure, use the user tag like this Jfdwolff so that the person gets an alert. Wikipedia has some creaky old software and does not signal people except on request.
Also, thanks for examining nuance there. That is totally beyond the scope of typical users and much appreciated. Blue Rasberry (talk) 22:41, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

Blogging about UCSF Wikipedia Course
editHi Acallen88,
I am Ammar - a student pioneer of a student network called Students 4 Best Evidence (S4BE, s4be.org) - a network of students interested in promoting Evidence-Based Health.
Prof. Amin has told us about your experience and we would love it if you were able to write a blog about it for us - sharing it with fellow medical students will be sure to encourage others to participate. We at S4BE are getting ready for an event to encourage students to edit Wikipedia's medical content.
We are planning an exciting week (15th-19th September) of blogs, resources and tutorials, culminating in a live Wiki Editathon, online and at the UK Cochrane Centre, Oxford on the 16th September.
Cochrane has recently joined forces with Wikipedia in a partnership to get more Cochrane health evidence on Wikipedia. To celebrate this, we at S4BE want to get students involved in this partnership as we know Wikipedia is a key student resource.
Throughout Wiki Week, we will be publishing blogs on:
- Why students are interested in Wikipedia
- how to become active on Wikipedia
- What is WikiProjectMed
- How to edit Wikipedia
- Cochrane and Wikipedia partnership
and much more!
Wiki Editathon (launching on 16th September):
- In person in Oxford at the UK Cochrane Centre and online using Google Hangout on the 16th
- Wiki training: experienced Wikipedians will be joining us to provide support for students new to Wiki
- Group work: working on a selection of interesting and new Cochrane reviews that we will help pre-pick
- A prize…
and lunch for those coming in person!
