Hi there - Wikipedia relies on reliable sources to verify information, especially about living people. You didn't provide a source for your changes to the Ton Pattinama article, and I couldn't find one either. If you have a reliable source please let me know and we can change the article. Please let me know if you have any questions. GiantSnowman 20:18, 26 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Tempestt Bledsoe edit

edit

I have reverted your addition of an unsourced date of birth to Tempestt Bledsoe. In addition to Wikipedia's basic principle of citing sources (Wikipedia:Citing sources), a special need for citations applies with regard to elements of a biography of a living person (WP:BLPPRIVACY). Feel free to add a date of birth when it is accompanied by a citation to a reliable, published, non-primary source. Eddie Blick (talk) 00:58, 14 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi there,
I found the date of birth on the Dutch wikipedia. I now see that for instance the German and French wikipedia pages show it as well.
Searching the internet for 'tempest bledsoe' shows the date of birth on several sites (imdb, marriedbiography.org, allstarbio.com, filmreference).
Other site like https://www.yahoo.com/topics/tempestt-bledsoe/ , https://www.thefamouspeople.com/profiles/tempestt-bledsoe-35082.php , https://www.encyclopedia.com/education/news-wires-white-papers-and-books/bledsoe-tempestt-1973 , https://biographyhost.com/p/tempestt-bledsoe.html , etc.) show it too.
Next to that I watched other wikipedia pages of living people and I did not see citations of birth dates there.
I can see that it would be awful to have an incorrect date of birth, but this one seems fine. AbangL 2012 (talk 10:24, 14 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your reply. Encyclopedia.com is a valid source, so you can add the date with a citation to that website.
Several of the sources that you found are not reliable for use in citations:
I am not familiar with the other sites that you listed, so I cannot comment on their reliability.
You commented, "Next to that I watched other wikipedia pages of living people and I did not see citations of birth dates there." Their existence does not mean that other biographies of living people should also have unsourced dates of birth.
WP:BLPPRIVACY specifies: "Wikipedia includes full names and dates of birth that have been widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object to the details being made public." The only way to show that a date of birth meets that standard is to have a citation to a widely published reliable source or the person's own official website. Thanx for the help.
