August 2022 edit

Hello, I'm Coasterlover1994. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Ian McAllister (conservationist)—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Original editor (reply & rationale for edit reinstatement):

The cited allegations are without reference to any formal court proceedings or on record comment from active staff or executive personnel. The level of legitimacy and independence of the citation used to support encyclopedic information is therefore in question. The cited media outlet is not mainstream Canadian media. The citation being used to support the original placement of BLP allegations contains a variety of anonymous third party references (i.e., there is no primary source citation available for this BLP article - the impugned citation is not a primary source citation but rather an 'opinion'). As such, the publication or continued promotion of such information may violate various Canadian common law norms (such as fair comment and public interest) and internal Wikipedia policy provisions relating to Biographies of Living Persons.

As the editorial level of 'constructiveness' may vary depending on personal views, disputes with editing content should be addressed via the formal dispute resolution process. Your removal was therefore reversed, with this commentary moved to 'talk'.

BLP factual inaccuracy (further editing note) edit

Critical attention must be paid to referenced citations purporting to contain information worthy of an encyclopedia (BLP). A review of the article text under "career" showed a sentence purporting "He did not give reasons as to why he was stepping down". A further in full review of the referenced citation showed a link to a statement regarding resignation and a direct quote relating to the resignation. The article text was therefore found factually inaccurate at first instance from the original placer. A sentence was removed and replaced with the direct quote from the cited source. Editors on this page must be wary of vandalism, balance, textual weight, and altered representation of citation information. *Note* The text block edited is still located in a chronologically incorrect placement. This raises additional questions about attention to BLP detail in previous edits and reversals. 96.54.103.35 (talk) 02:24, 6 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
