edit

Hi 67.149.172.22! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Arecibo message several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Arecibo message, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Walsh90210 (talk) 18:40, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

I don't see why you're putting a message here and not on the users inserting their personal opinion into articles when they should know better, other than the users were sure to each revert the change once. How about we start with the fact that the sources listed don't support the title, and if someone else wants to porpose adding it we can see if they can reach consensus. 67.149.172.22 (talk) 20:36, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
Could I just add my complete agreement with the above from Walsh90210. No-one is bullying anyone. We are just explaining the research which has gone into this subject, which I was heavily involved, although I appreciate this could be said to be WP:OR. However, I cannot believe that anyone would regard a crop design, however well constructed, as a message from aliens? This has been a UK game for many years. There are far more important world sites aliens might use than this. The subject has been fully debated on the Talk page several times and I really see no need for further discussion. I also find it odd that the main folk who disagree with the sub-head hide behind IP addresses, rather than creating an account for themselves. However, this is their choice, but please notice the views of the SETI Institute and others who have studied the subject for more years than some of us care to remember. I would love to say we have received a "message", but we haven't. Regards to all, David J Johnson (talk) 19:53, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
IP, you have actually broken WP:3RR. That is a bright line, and if you are reported for it you will almost certainly be blocked for edit warring. Your edit has been undone by several different editors, none of whom have broken 3RR. Meters (talk) 23:46, 24 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Following up on your comment here: if you weren't going to further edit the article, then the semiprotection does not matter. If you were, then it prevented you from being blocked so it's good news. Either way, not "incredibly disappointing". VQuakr (talk) 02:54, 25 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
