I just wanted to make sure you received my message from yesterday. As I mentioned I work with Finn Wentworth, and he had asked me to update his Wikipedia page with his most to-date information. Please contact me as I am hoping to get this resolved today.

Hi, you can supply references on the Talk page when requesting changes. You will need to find them yourself. Please do read the conflict of interest guidance as that will help to clarify the process for you. Please remember that Wikipedia is not intended for promotion and articles should only include what reliable sources have said about the subject. Managing a conflict of interest

Hello, 53Maple. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Finn Wentworth, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

• avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;

Finn Wentworth

You've already been advised above by Tacyarg that your connection to Finn Wentworth means you shouldn't really be directly editing any content about him in any Wikipedia article, except in very limited cases; instead, you should be seeking assistance from the others on the relevant article's talk page by making WP:EDITREQUESTs.

You need to make it clear to Wentworth that even though Wikipedia has an article written about him, it isn't an article written for him and he has zero editorial control over its content. If he's instructing or requesting you to make changes on his behalf, then you need to make it clear to him that both he and you are going to still be expected to comply with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Moreover, if you're in his employ or otherwise receiving some type of compensation for editing on his behalf, you will be expected to comply with WP:PAID because a failure to do so is a violation of the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. If you've been placed between a rock and a hard place by Wentworth or your employer over "updating" the article, then that's unfortunate but not really a concern of Wikipedia. There are processes in place to help subjects of articles or their representatives when they have concerns about what's written about them on Wikipedia as explained here and here, and you'd be wise to make use of them. If you continue to directly edit the article, an administrator may eventually be asked to step in and take some sort of more formal action. Please note that everything posted above about COI editing and undisclosed paid editing by myself and others applies the person making the edits, not simply the account they're using. So, creating a "new" account or editing while not logged in doesn't make what's posted above no longer applicable, and any attempts to try and avoid scrutiny by doing so is likely going to be seen as an inappropriate use of multiple accounts. Similarly, any attempts to have others within a similar COI or undisclosed paid editing issues make the desired edits is also likely going to be seen as a violation of Wikipedia policy. Your best bet moving forward is, once again, use the process already in place to request the changes you feel should be made.

Finally, whether it was intentional that you marked you recent edits as WP:MINOR only you can say, but please don't do so again unless they clearly are minor. My suggestion to you would be to avoid marking any edits you make to any content about Wentworth as "minor" due to your COI, and generally avoid for other edits until you gain a better understanding of Wikipedia. Marking your edits as such might be misconstrued by others and seen as an attempt to avoid scrutiny. — Marchjuly (talk) 21:22, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
