Conflicts of interest and original research.

edit

Please read WP:COI and WP:NOR carefully before continuing to contribute to articles where you have been personally involved in the subject matter. While expert contributions are welcomed, original research is not, and special care must be taken where you have an apparent conflict of interest. Triona (talk) 21:48, 8 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Welcome!

You are welcome to continue editing articles without logging in, but many editors recommend that you create an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits such as the ability to create articles. For a full outline and explanation of the benefits that come with creating an account, please see this page. If you edit without a username, your IP address (199.106.103.249) is used to identify you instead.

In any case, I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on this page. Again, welcome!

Is that you, soyboy? :) Tarc (talk) 14:02, 9 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
Howdy Izzy, I'm guessing soyboy = Sam, but this whole wikipedia discussion has been me, Flux.
Cool. Unfreeze me then. :) Tarc (talk) 22:01, 10 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you must sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 21:50, 10 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but we cannot accept original research. Original research also encompasses novel, unpublished syntheses of previously published material. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your information. Thank you. «CharlieEchoTango» 06:07, 4 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello, this is not a "complaint", this is just telling you about the policies regarding original research. You just admitted yourself this was in fact original research, so thanks for confirming my action. We can't know for a fact that your an engineer and/or work for Iridium (which would happen to constitute conflict of interest, by the way), and this is why the encyclopedia relies on references. Thanks - «CharlieEchoTango» 06:16, 4 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
You know what, after giving a second look, I might've been a been harsh. Policies on original research still apply though, but feel free to reinsert the content, and if you could link it to one of the existing references or to an external source, this would be great. Thanks again - «CharlieEchoTango» 06:21, 4 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

A transcript from my answer to your criticism on my talk page : If you look you will see that half the article is 'original research' and you are doing a very poor job at editing out the original research, Mr. 199.106.103.249 (talk) 06:21, 4 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I let an other note on your talk page. ::You know what, after giving a second look, I might've been a been harsh. Policies on original research still apply though, but feel free to reinsert the content, and if you could link it to one of the existing references or to an external source, this would be great. Thanks again. That was before I read this, and I'm wondering now if I haven't been too nice. Look, just because the article has original research already doesn't mean it's okay to add more. Like I said, I've been a bit harsh. I also tagged the article for reference improvements. Cheers - «CharlieEchoTango» 06:24, 4 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Kevin Brown (author). When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.   Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. One of the core policies of Wikipedia is that articles should always be written from a neutral point of view. A contribution you made to Akhil Gogoi appears to carry a non-neutral point of view, and your edit may have been changed or reverted to correct the problem. Please remember to observe this important core policy. Thank you. Quasihuman | Talk 18:16, 27 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Wikipedia about living persons, as you did to Akhil Gogoi. Thank you. Quasihuman | Talk 18:30, 27 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the edit you made to User:Jaccapp has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you.   Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit Wikipedia too, under the name Theking17825. Wikipedia is an all-volunteer operation, and I'm one of the many volunteers here who help review edits. Everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, but I noticed that one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to User:Jaccapp/sandbox with this edit, seemed to be unconstructive. I have reverted it for now, and ask that in the future you please use the sandbox for test edits, not encyclopedia articles. It also helps to provide an informative edit summary so that other editors like me have a brief description of your change to Wikipedia. If you have questions, you might want to take a look at this tutorial. Also, feel free to ask me questions on my talk page. Theking17825 20:38, 19 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

The recent edit you made to User:Jaccapp/sandbox has been reverted, as it removed all content from the page without explanation. Please do not do this, as it is considered vandalism; use the sandbox for testing. If you think the page should be deleted, see here for what to do. Thank you.   Please do not vandalize pages, as you did with this edit to User:Jaccapp/sandbox. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing. Theking17825 20:43, 19 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Barry Blair has been reverted.
Your edit here to Barry Blair was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://www.facebook.com/ElflordBarryBlair) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page.
