Edit Summaries

edit

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. — SpikeToronto 08:31, 8 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to El Nora Alila has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. Dusti*poke* 08:06, 8 November 2010 (UTC) Please read the below template. Edit summaries help a lot in anti-vandalism work. All I saw was a bunch of text... looking like gibberish. Had you provided the edit summary, I would have realized your actual intentions. Thank you, Dusti*poke* 08:36, 8 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to El Nora Alila. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. — SpikeToronto 08:31, 8 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —specifically this edit to Fresnel zone—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help desk. Thanks. Materialscientist (talk) 12:55, 13 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
