On Nagasaki's case count in Template:COVID-19_pandemic_data/Japan_medical_cases

edit

Hi there,

Thanks for keeping Template:COVID-19_pandemic_data/Japan_medical_cases up to date! You recently increased the case count in Nagasaki prefecture from 17 to 166, but the 149 cases on Costa Atlantica is already counted in a separate row. In order to avoid double-counting, I am reducing it to 17 again. I think this is in line with almost all official COVID-19 stats in Japan (MHLW, NHK, Nagasaki prefecture). Please let me know if you think strongly that Costa Atlantica cases should be mixed into Nagasaki's count.

Thank you. オオカワウソ (talk) 09:25, 20 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I am the editor who is undoing your edit on Nagasaki's case count (17 → 166) repeatedly. I am sorry if you find it frustrating, but I have already written my rationales above. In addition to them, you can find that the vast majority (if not all) of Japanese COIVD stats exclude the 149 Costa Atlantica cases from Nagasaki's cases by comparing search results on 長崎 covid "166" and 長崎 covid "17".

If you believe the 149 cases should be in Nagasaki's count, could you (1) cite an official stats doing it, (2) delete the Costa Atlantica row, and (3) delete the footnote on the exclusion of Costa Atlantica cases? Otherwise your edit (17 → 166) makes the table wrong.

Of course having a discussion on the issue on the talk page (or here) is much more appreciated.

Thank you.

オオカワウソ (talk) 18:43, 23 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks a lot for reading my comments. (I assume so because you deleted the footnote on the exclusion of Costa Atlantica cases unlike your previous edits). Could you add a citation of some official statistics which include Costa Atlantica's cases into Nagasaki's cases? If you cannot add it to the page (you seem to be using mobile visual edit), you can just paste it here and I may be able to help adding the citation. Thank you. オオカワウソ (talk) 19:18, 24 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
