Introduction to contentious topics edit

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Note that you do not have the required 500 edits, and you are therefore restricted in what discussions you may participate in regarding this contentious topic. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 03:07, 11 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

I only see that the restriction is towards editing, didn't see any rule in wikipedia about particapting discussions. דוב (talk) 09:06, 11 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
It mostly applies to discussions in the "Wikipedia:" space. "Talk:" discussions are usually fine, but formal !voting type discussions (where people say support and oppose) can also be affected. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 16:24, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Okay, where did you see I edited a page or a discussion I'm not supposed to? דוב (talk) 16:44, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

WP:TPO edit

Do not modify a comment I make again. nableezy - 23:55, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Is that a threat? דוב (talk) 23:59, 12 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
No, it is a request that you abide by Wikipedia policy. If you refuse to do so then I may report that. But do not vandalize my comments again. nableezy - 00:00, 13 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Deleting of spamming of the Talk page is not vandalizing. Btw, WP:CIVIL is also Wikipedia policy. דוב (talk) 00:07, 13 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I havent spammed a thing, and I have not been uncivil. Toodles, nableezy - 00:11, 13 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

ARBPIA edit

This is a violation of the editing restrictions. Please do not edit material related to the Arab-Israeli conflict until you are qualified to do so. nableezy - 14:08, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

How is that a violation? There is no restriction over the page. dov (talk) 14:09, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
You may not edit any material related to the Arab-Israeli conflict topic area in article space regardless of whether or not a page is protected. If it is related to the conflict you need to wait until you have 500 edits to touch it in any place besides a talk page. nableezy - 14:26, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Okay. got it. dov (talk) 14:28, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

You also may not participate in a formal RFC on the talk page. Please read Wikipedia:Arbitration_Committee/Procedures#Extended_confirmed_restriction nableezy - 14:56, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

October 2023 edit

  Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Rose Prince (writer): you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 17:29, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! I'm still learning about the different templates and looking what other monitors are doing with new users or vandalizers. dov (talk) 17:34, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
You may also be interested in trying out Twinkle, which has a bunch of useful editing functionality, one of them being easy counter-vandalism and user warnings. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 17:47, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'll check it out. dov (talk) 17:49, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

ANI edit

  There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. nableezy - 15:37, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

I have revoked your extended confirmed permission, as it is exceedingly obvious you were gaming the system to get it. I would advise you to stay well away from this extremely contentious topic area until you can demonstrate an ability to collaboratively edit in a calmer environment. Additional attempts to game the system will result in a block. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 16:13, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Can you explain how were I gaming the system? I monitored over 300 edits and reverted vandalism and participated in discussions. None of my edits are considered "gaming". dov (talk) 17:25, 26 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message edit

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:45, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
