Dr. Arthur E. Keiser is the chancellor and CEO of Keiser University, which he co-founded with his mother Evelyn Keiser in 1977. Keiser University is a network of not-for-profit career colleges in Florida with 18 different campuses[1]. Additionally, Dr. Keiser jointly owns a private not-for-profit career college called Everglades University with his wife Belinda Keiser[2]. Dr. Keiser is also an advocate for not-for-profit and private career schools and has served on the boards of several different universities[3]. He was appointed by the governor to two different state boards. Dr. Keiser is also a co-founder of the Keiser-Mills Foundation, a non-profit organization which awards scholarships to college students.

Biography

Dr. Keiser was born on July 5th, 1953 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After his family moved to Boca Raton, Florida, he attended high school at Pine Crest School. Dr. Keier graduated cum laude from Tulane University with an honors in history in 1975, and briefly enrolled in the University of Florida’s Graduate School of History before earning his doctorate in higher education administration from the Union Institute & University Graduate School of Cincinnati.

In 1977, Dr. Keiser and his mother Evelyn Keiser opened the Keiser School on Oakland Park Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale with one student and 2,400 square feet of classrooms and office space. In 1982 Dr. Keiser added paralegal and computer tracks to the school's offerings and changed the name to the Keiser Institute of Technology. In 1986 Dr. Keiser's school was accredited to award associate degrees, and so the name was changed again to Keiser College. After the school began offering full bachelor degree programs, the school became known under its current name, Keiser University.

In 1998 Dr. Keiser and his wife Belinda purchased American Flyers College in Fort Lauderdale, incorporating it as a not-for-profit and changing the name to Everglades University[2]. In 2015 Dr. Keiser oversaw Keiser Univerisity's purchase of Northwood University's West Palm Beach campus[4]. In October 2016 Dr. Keiser announced that Keiser University would be creating its own college football team, the Keiser Seahawks[5].

Dr. Keiser has been involved in the American Diabetic Association, including hosting the 2016 Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes. Through Keiser University, Dr. Keiser has helped raise more than $70,000 for a cure for diabetes[6]. Dr. Keiser and his wife Belinda have established the Keiser-Mills Foundation, a needs-based academic scholarship fund to provide scholarships for students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and related fields[7].

Keiser University

Dr. Arthur Keiser co-founded Keiser University with his mother in 1977 and now serves as chancellor and CEO. Keiser University is a private non-profit university based in Florida[8][9]. It provides undergraduate and graduate educational programs both as a traditional campus and through online classes. The school is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is also a member of the Independent Colleges and Universities of Florida[10]. The main campus is in Fort Lauderdale, with branches located both across Florida and internationally, including in Nicaragua and China[11].

Board Memberships and Directorships

Dr. Keiser has served on a number of number of educational and education-related boards during his career. He served as chair of the Board of Directors of the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities (APSCU). He was a member of the Jacob K. Javits Fellows Program Fellowship Board. He has served as elected chairperson and board member of the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). Dr. Keiser also served on the board for the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI). He was appointed by the Governor of Florida to the State Board of Independent Colleges and to the Universities and the State Board of Independent Postsecondary, Vocational, Technical, Trade and Business Schools. Dr. Keiser has also served as President of the Florida Association of Postsecondary Schools and Colleges (FAPSC)[12][13].
