Sally McConnell-Ginet is an American scholar of linguistics. She is Professor Emeritus of Linguistics at Cornell University, where she has worked since [1], and a past vice-president and president of the Linguistic Society of America.

She has published articles and books primarily in sociolinguistics, pragmatics and semantics. She has been called a pioneer of social constructionism in language & gender research[2]

McConnell-Ginet received her A.B. from Oberlin College, her M.S. in Mathematics from The Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. (1973) from the University of Rochester.
