Emily Ratajkowsi's blue Koma dress is a blue dress designed by David Koma and worn by Emily Ratajkowski on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at the London (and European) premier of We Are Your Friends, which was Ratajkowski's first leading role as a film actress. The dress is said to have launched her into fashion stardom.

In August 2015, Ratajkowski toured North America and Europe with co-star Zac Efron and director Max Bentley in advance of the We Are Your Friends's August 28 release date.[1] Her role in the film marked her first leading role as a film actress.[2] August 11 marked the date of the European Premier of the film, and Ratajkowski wore that dress on the Ritzy Cinema of Brixton red carpet at the premier,[3] although earlier in the day she had worn Zimmermann at the photocall.[4][5] Ratajkowski had been born in nearby Westminster and designer Koma was London-based.[6] The dress was listed in the David Koma Autumn/Winter 2015 collection at £5,525.[7]

The blue dress was a full-length sleeveless, scoop-neck garment with a thigh-high front slit,[8][9][10] and a high neckline.[11] The dress has a metallic finish[12] with an iridescence.[13] The dress' bright[14] shade of blue has been variously described as electric blue,[9][6][10] royal blue,[8] or cobalt blue.[13][8][8] The embellishments are described as beading,[13][6][10] or sequins,[14][15][8] with one source calling them mirror and crystal embroidery.[9] The dress was accompanied by a Monique Lhuiller black box clutch, and Giuseppe Zanetti strappy sandals with stiletto heels.[14][8] The dress had black contouring side panels.[6][7] The black contouring details were praised for accenting Ratajkowski's silhouette.[11][14]

The dress was immediately hailed as the look of the day.[7][16] The dress earned her numerous best dressed recognitions for that week in the press.[13][11][17][18][19] This tour marked her ascension as a style icon as she earned multiple best dressed citations from various sources in consecutive weeks, although she had previously not been known as a fashhion star.[20][21] The following month, she made her runway debut for Marc Jacobs at the spring/summer 2016 New York Fashion Week finale on September 17, 2015.[22][23]

At the end of the year, the August 11 London premiere was described by W critic Sue Williamson as the night Ratajkoski became a style star.[24] Ratajkowski's red carpet appearance on that date was listed as one of the fashion moments of the year by Evening Standard journalist Charlie Teather.[25] She earned the number one listing among Vogue's 12 Breakout Beauty Stars of 2015.[26] Ratajkowski was depicted in this dress when she made Vogue Italia's Best Dressed List of 2015.[27]
