Background and release

edit

When I think back on the Fearless album and all that [the audience] turned it into, a completely involuntary smile creeps across my face. This was the musical era in which so many inside jokes were created between us, so many hugs exchanged and hands touched, so many unbreakable bonds formed [...] Fearless was an album full of magic and curiosity, and the bliss and devastation of youth. It was the diary of the adventures and explorations of a teenage girl who was learning tiny lessons with every new crack in the facade of the fairytale ending she'd been shown in the movies.

— Swift's restrospecting on Fearless[2]

In 2019, Swift announced her intention to re-record her first six studio albums following the sale of her master recordings to American businessman Scooter Braun. On February 11, 2021, the singer announced the re-recordings of Fearless, titled Fearless (Taylor's Version), and stated that "Love Story (Taylor's Version)" would be released as a single on February 12. Fearless (Taylor's Version) contains 26 songs, consisting of all the tracks from Fearless Platinum Edition (2009), her 2010 soundtrack single "Today Was a Fairytale", and six new bonus tracks "from the vault" that did not make the 2008 album.[1]
