Hi - Thanks a lot for the message. I had removed the tags before I read your message. I appreciate any guidance from seniors like you. This is the first article I am contributing to Wikipedia. Thanks again for the advise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rkalanidhi (talkcontribs) 16:15, 5 December 2007

Did not realize that edit

Hmm, I didn't realize "defence" was a valid British spelling of the word. Thanks for the heads-up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GMBFly98 (talkcontribs) 01:46, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

David Wall edit

Hi MightyWarrior. Thanks for leaving me a message, I've unprotected and created the disambiguation page for the Walls. If you come across any other David Walls which require mentioning, be sure to add them.  :-) Can't sleep, clown will eat me 22:12, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Airco DH.5 edit

I was unaware of the discussion, I was only concerned with the fact that this article did not conform with the rest. The talk page thing was my mistake, and is now fixed. I think a better place to have these types of discussions would be Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aircraft since the Airco DH.5 talk page only concerns that particular page, and not Airco DH pages as a whole. For now I'll leave the page where it is, until a decision is made.- Trevor MacInnis (Contribs) —Preceding comment was added at 20:40, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Old Signal Boxes edit

Hi, Please excuse me if I am going about this the wrong way. I am completely new to Wiki and may unintentionally be treading on toes by not following the right procedure. It was I that added the external reference to the Highams Park Signal Box yesterday evening and note that you very quickly removed it! I had not signed in when I added it so my addition was only tagged with an IP address so I realise you could not contact me (hpmaster). I note the comment in the discussion about "external links" which I assume is the reason you deleted it. BUT....... (whether it is the intention or not) I think it is reasonable to assume that the "Signal Box" Wiki page will attract readers who are interested in both active and historic boxes and so I thought visitors would be interested in our box which is very unusual in the middle of London. I could set up a "Historic Signal Boxes" page but the distinction seems a little pedantic and may be unhelpful to visitors. I'd welcome your thoughts. For the moment I've put our link back on the assumption that if any historic boxes are there then we should be there too .....or we should all be removed and placed elsewhere. Otherwise I'll think there is some prejudice against Highams Park :-). What do you think? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hpmaster (talkcontribs) 23:10, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks edit

Thanks for the helpful comments about the links on the Signal Box article.

Thanks also for the "Beginners Guide". I read it and am learning.... You'll be pleased to see I put a proper 4xtilde signature on this edit.

RFA edit

Thanks for participating in my RFA, which closed successfully with 40 supports, 13 opposes, and 4 neutrals. For those of you who supported my RFA, I greatly appreciate it. For those who did not, I'm also thankful for your constructive criticism. If you need some advice or have some pointers for me, you know where to reach me! A special thank you to Majorly for all his time and effort he has placed in my nomination. Once again, thank you all for your helpful comments. Now off to new admin school! Hey, don't forget to post warnings for all deletion notifications, including copyvio and speedy categories! It's only fair. Cheers and happy editing! - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 17:44, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

I've replied on your talk page: I was in the process of leaving the requisite welcome and sd-copyvio warning at the same time as you - I got an edit conflict with you! Please don't be so hasty with your wrist slapping in future. It's only fair. -- MightyWarrior (talk) 17:52, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
I distinctly remember not slapping you. ;-) Sorry, mate, I understand entirely. I experienced much more vitriolic and incendiary comments when I tried to do an RFD from a craptop on dial-up, and didn't notify quick enough (never did get an apology...). No worries. Cheers and happy editing! - CobaltBlueTony™ talk 17:57, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello. I noticed that you had previously commented on the article Steven Kazmierczak into Northern Illinois University shooting. I just thought I would let you know that the discussion has been reopened here here if you wish to provide additional input since the one-week cool down period has expired. David Wallace edit

What the hell? Did you toss all that work I did on Kevin Manthei's Page?!! I'm his assistant! The bio came directly from Kevin's own materials and authorship, which I administer at his request, as did the photo. See Kevin Manthei. Check his press kit. I even edited the bio to conform standards of this site and avoid CIO. All information provided was non-biased and relevant to details that anyone wishing for more information on Kevin or his work would have wanted. Moreover, it was meticulously accurate. The soundtrack site you referenced either ripped it from his site or had permission, but that is between Kevin and that site. Restore the page (I am too new to know exactly how to accurately do so) or please explain why you would destroy so much work. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Daveswallace (talkcontribs) 20:56, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Kevin Manthei Page Survival edit

MW - I found this regarding lists -

  1. Statistics. Long and sprawling lists of statistics may be confusing to readers and reduce the readability and neatness of our articles. In addition, articles should contain sufficient explanatory text to put statistics within the article in their proper context for a general reader. In cases where this may be necessary, (e.g. Opinion polling for the United States presidential election, 2008) consider using infoboxes or tables to enhance the readability of lengthy data lists. -

and feel this list should remain, unless someone is willing to explain each project in depth, as it is the most comprehensive collection of information on Kevin's body of work available online. I placed it in a table to make it as readable as possible, and feel each link has a right to be there, especially because many of the links are to wiki pages. Also, I read through the copyright sections, but didn't find anything about how to prevent materials being removed because another person wrongly believed it to be copyright infringement. Can you tell me how? I noted on my edit that content was used by permission. Can I do more than that? Daveswallace (talk) 16:23, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

But... edit

2008 Masters golf entry edit

I took another look at Trevor Immelman and found no mention of April, much less April 13. Yes, it's in 2008 Masters Tournament. But since the 2008 entry is about a person, and since that individual must have an article in Wikipedia to qualify for a mention in 2008, I think that person's article should contain all the specific information necessary to corroborate the entry in 2008, or any other year or DOY. Therefore I've added the April 13th mention to Trevor Immelman. Please advise on my talk page if you think this an unsuitable solution. Thanks. --Art Smart (talk) 19:33, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome...one quick query: edit

Thank you so much for the kind and helpful welcome, MightyWarrior. The guidance is much appreciated.

The neutrality of some of my additions to the article on Cotuit, Massachusetts have been disputed by a user named Nakon. Could you please tell me is Nakon also a guiding Wikipedia editor? I couldn't easily ascertain from the Nakon user page. Also Nakon left some very objective comments on my additions, such as "reads like a travel brochure" and that he/she needs to come back and "clean this mess up." Is this typical? appropriate?

Appreciate your advice and am looking forward to becoming a responsible and useful contributor.User:Jshcotuit (talk) 15:06, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

It had cited sources, didn't seem too out of place, parts of it could do with tightening up or removed, but not the whole section.Alexsanderson83 22:40, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Arleston edit

OK you may feel that it should be part of Sinfin (although street signs and Domesday disagree and I suspect they are in different boroughs) but

  • did you propose the merge
  • did you advise those who were recently involved
  • did you merge all the text
  • did you merge all the references
  • did you move the picture
  • did you redirect its cataloguing on commons

Maybe I missed this but I see that someone sent you a similar note in November 2007. There are procedures. Could you please advise on where I misunderstand your actions - I seem to see a deleted article. Victuallers (talk) 14:45, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your answer (well researched) and thought out. The merger may be a good idea, but losing the info I think needs discussion. As LinuxLad notes elsewhere we may need to merge more, but Arleston I think is in Barrow on Trent parish. Please keep up the additions. Thx again Victuallers (talk) 17:25, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Burma edit

Hold on buddy. I'm trying to get the attention of User:Editor of the Wiki who has had his new Burmese town articles Coren Bot tagged. He isn't replying to his messages as he ignoring them thinking they are more bot messages. He is making errors with the maplandia links. I don;t know how elese to stop him creating more with deadlinks ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 11:25, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Try checking the creator of Template:Chipwi Township. Blocked from wikipedia?. Given that I have 150,000 edits to wikipedia and have created twice more pages than anybody else. How else do you suggest I contact him? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 11:33, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Try clicking the maplandia link for Htangprai. Dead isn't it? This is why I am trying to get hold of him as I now have to go through them all and correct them ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 11:36, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

An administrator? I've turned down being an admin on many occasions. I would have been made one years ago if it interested me. I prefer to concentrate on adding purely content. Why do I get the feeling we've had this conversation before? Anyway I wouldn't normally "violate policy" but I couldn't think of an alternative to speak to him. He seems to have stopped now so I can continue. Regards ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 11:47, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
