Melissa Dawn Archibald (born August 31, 1988) is a Canadian environmentalist, marine biologist, and librarian. Archibald earned a B.Sc. in Marine Biology with Honours from Dalhousie University in 2011. Since 2012 Archibald has been enrolled in a combined MLIS-MREM degree at Dalhousie Univeristy's School of Information Management and School for Resource and Environmental Studies.

Early Life

Archibald was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia to Truro, Nova Scotia natives Ron Archibald and Rosemary (née Caudle). She has one brother, Liam, who is 12 years her junior.

When Archibald was a child her family moved from their residence in Amherst, Nova Scotia and relocated to Belleville, Ontario. While in Belleville, Archibald attended Nicholson Catholic College.

University Education

In 2006 Archibald enrolled in a BSc Program at Dalhousie University. After completing two years of study as a Biology major, she switched into Marine Biology. In 2010/2011 Archibald completed thesis which examined a pathway in MS demyelination and resulting neuronal degradation, with the hopes of identifying a potential for treatment for the disease.

After graduating from her undergraduate degree Melissa went on hiatus for one year and then applied to the combined Master of Library and Information Studies and Master of Resource and Environmental Studies at Dalhousie University where she is currently scheduled to complete her degree in 2015.
