Stunt - picture 2: Blatant advertising?

Would you tell me whether this image:Stunt_1298471366.jpg cannot be considered as 'blatant advertising', not the least because it shows more of ads for a well-known bank in Western France and a controversial retail store and e-commerce chain than a stunt performer.

You're quite right: I'll find four more pics to cover (roughly) the range of stunts and explain on the talk page why I replaced those two poor images.

• When I wrote it was blatant ads, that's because this region, Brittany, cause that's where my son studies, some 15 mi from Landrévarzec actually, and that's not far, too, from where my former wife lives. The Centres Leclerc can be compared to Wall✭Marts at some point (e.g. because of their social and salary policies), plus a populist, gross CEO who pisses off everyone with thunderous statements and vain promises. Welcome back! In concerns like this, there's a few things you need to look for. The first would be any indication that the source may have released the text into the public domain or if it is indeed copyrighted with all rights reserved (I'm having trouble determining this because .co.uk is firewalled from work and I'm looking at the webpage through a proxy). The second would be to ensure that it was Wikipedia that copied the text from the website, and not the other way around. Looking at this edit, we can be almost certain that the IP user did a copy and paste from the website (otherwise the text would have gradually evolved into this form). So, I think we've determined that it's most likely copyright violation. Now there's a number of options, you could email the owner of the website and ask for permission to use the text, or you could paraphrase the text and use the website as a reference. Or you could of course just remove the text altogether, but this is a less than optimal course of action. Well, I've just added a comparison table to my message on the talk page after I read your message — actually, your message and my edit were sent at the same time —, this will allow… some comparison. I do agree with you when you write «it's most likely copyright violation». I wouldn't be satisfied with the third option, but I'm not sure we'll be granted permission to use their text Though the initial author and our 70.106.99.150 (who only wrote about IJmuiden) could be the same person, but I seriously have some doubts about it., at least because it may have been written by some reclamebureau / agence de communication. And if this text comes from the company itself, they would agree indeed, but then this would be some kind of advertising (and the inhab. figures are false).

I reworked a bit the existing text, pending translation from Dutch and other versions and some more research, when I'll have some more time…

Firewall means that my work blocks access to websites ending in co.uk. Looking through a proxy means I used a website (http://www.stealthfinder.com) to get around this (but it doesn't work very well). We can still use the text, paraphrased, if we link to the website as a reference. The upside down question mark is just a seperator between the two links, it doesn't mean anything, just a neat symbol =). xenocidic ( talk ¿ review ) 14:27, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

As I'd better ask about them one by one, here is the first of a (long) series of questions about 'technical enigmas' (for me…): how can I customize the “toolbox” we have just below the edit window. I do not need Cyrillic, Greek and IPA scripts and most of the Latin letters (I have non-virtual keyboards for this), but need e.g. mkhedruli alphabet and, most of all, those </br>, <small></small> and others.
Furthermore, is it possible to add to this toolbox templates and some infoboxes I often use?

• On this one again, I have no idea. I would gather perhaps there might be some playing around you could do in your monobook.js with adding scripts and stuff. I would suggest you ask this question at the Village pump (technical) help desk of Wikipedia. The freqtext is fairly easy. You type the most commonly used code you will be using onto a page and wrap it with <pre> </pre> tags so that Wikipedia doesn't render it as the code, but shows the code itself. No, not at all, I was unclear. I have a page called User:Xenocidic/misc which is a where I keep all my frequently used text, which I then transclude on my main page. In the very basic form, you would just create a page (or you could even type this text onto your main user page) as follows:

(here is where you would paste the frequently used text you want to access, I'll just use a ref template for an example)

<ref>{{cite web|url=XXX|title=XXX|publisher=[[XXX]]|date=2008-XX-XX|accessdate=2008-XX-XX}}</ref> </pre>

I hope that is more clear. Basically when you use a <pre>, it tells Wikipedia to ignore whatever Wikipedia and HTML code may be between the two tags (<pre> and </pre>) so that you can then use it to copy-paste it when you are frequently using it. Sudaq, Köktöbel

 Done I'd like to know whether I may review the articles about Koktebel and Sudak, including moving the latter Sudaq, to conform to its official Crimean name and pronunciation. These places are described by people (including Don Alessandro I do appreciate) who sure love them, but who see these (and others by the way) like tourists do.

I already asked you about moving Sudak to Sudaq, but I'd have to ask you too about Koktebel ↳ Köktöbel, just for the same reason. I read a whole lot of lines and pages about spelling guidelines, that is too much for me to get a clear idea whether I can do it or not. With a subsequent redirection, this may be no problem. I read on some talk pages about this topic that a bunch of people use Google as a notability criterion, which is totally stupid when we talk about some 630,000 Crimean Tatar speakers with few PCs (according to the 2001/2005 census made in Crimea & Ukraine, O`zbekiston, Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria plus an unprecise number in the US, Canada, Russia and Qazaqstan — not 400,000,like they say in the Crimean Tatar language article) versus more than one million English-speakers with no E-equipment problems.

Oh, deer, wish there were no misstakes in theese lines, this thyme…

I added redirections from Köktöbel ↳ Koktebel and from Sudaq ↳ Sudak, wishing I did nothing wrong… And as a warmup, before I rewrite the Gothenburg Archipelago article (tomorrow), I reviewed the history section of Sudaq. Cabair

I took a look at the Cabair article, with its bunch of {{unreferenced|date=November 2007}}, {{Importance|date=November 2007}}, {{Wikify|date=November 2007}} (6 lines/3 flags vs. 40-something words). This aviation group is sure not notable in Tulsa, OK or Richmond, BC, but this is really an important part of the skyline in the UK and Spain (several clubs and flying schools, helicopter transportation and mid-level maintenance activities are not even mentioned).
The question is: Is it worth for me to review this article , if someone is to delete the article soon after?

Hi! Though I admit this is a rather childish caprice I have, I'd like to have some customized devices and signature. Would you have the time to explain to me how:

• I could display indicators looking like your Status: Offline. , — Status: Online. , — Status: Around. ?
• I could customize my signature.

PS: I haven't managed yet to apply the instructions about Those tools I do need…

The status thing, I can design easily enough for you - it is probably easier for me to simply create it rather than explain it, because it took me several weeks myself to understand how these things work. As far as the signature, that is also easy enough, though you're not really supposed to have pictures in your signature. The font, and two colours are fine though. Something like this (just change the colours or move them around - a lot of people with two words in their name will just skip the "talk" icon and put a link to talk in their second name - it's your choice): [[User:Kanġi Oĥanko|<font face="Textile Regular" color="blue">✓ Kanġi</font>]] [[User talk:Kanġi Oĥanko|<font face="Textile Regular" color="red">Oĥanko</font>]] = ✓ Kanġi Oĥanko. –xenocidic (talk) 13:48, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

• OK, I made it for you. You can see the code here: User talk:Kanġi Oĥanko/Status, and you change the status here: User:Kanġi Oĥanko/Status. Right now it is somewhat compatible with "WP:QUI", but this program requires you to be running Firefox (not Internet Explorer). Qui will help you set your status easily. If you can't use this addon, then you can simply change the statuses manually. Because it is compatible with Qui when you set Qui to sleep, it will show you as spinning around. "notbusy" (twiddling thumbs) must be set manually because Qui only supports four statuses. The other statuses are online (here there overthere), busy (...but quite busy), and offline. First - are you using the Mozilla Firefox browser? If not, you should install it. It's free, and much better than Internet Explorer. Second, you need to copy and paste this line: importScript('User:TheDJ/qui.js'); into Special:Mypage/monobook.js, and then press CTRL-Reload to bypass your cache. and then you will see a little dot in the top right corner, you can set yourself to online, busy, sleep (which will actually mean spinning around) and offline. Or, if you can't do all that, you can just change the word in User:Kanġi Oĥanko to whatever your status is, be it "online", "busy", "sleep" or "offline". does that help? –xenocidic (talk) 16:12, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

You'll have to explain this one for me, I took a look at everything and I'm still not sure what you want done... I think you want one single article covering the archipelago. Once I know that I can do the necessary moves to preserve all the history and such.

The translation from Swedish for the whole of Gothenburg Archipelago is ready to be inserted . Awaiting what should be done to conform to the usual guidelines, I posted again the {{underconstruction}} banner both ahead of Gothenburg Archipelago and Southern Gothenburg Archipelago , wishing they will remain there till I've finished.

➠ «What should be done» — I'm not sure (I'm a dumb, you're an admin), but I guess that both articles should be merged under one title: Gothenburg Archipelago, as there is absolutely no solid reason to distinguish “one” from “the other”. The Swedish don't, and when you sail across these islands, you have to watch your map and nav means to know where's this “dividing line” — it's not some Equator!

Uploading to the commons is pretty easy, just go to commons:Special:Upload. GFDL-self is usually a pretty appropriate license as well. As for SVG tools...Not sure what that is - graphics have never been my area of expertise. –xeno (talk) 18:28, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Maps the Crimean way

There's something I'd like to understand — if you can explain this to me: if you take a look at any map on the Crimean Tatar edition (e.g. the one appearing on the lower part of the Sudaq şeer şurası (Sudaq town council), under the title «Qırım haritasında Sudaq regionı»: I cannot see where the codes allowing the names to be correctly positionned are and I wasn't able to locate the {{Qırım haritası - Regionlar}} and {{Qırımdaki regionlar}} templates anywhere on the Crimean VİKİPEDİYA.
But if it's too complicated for me (this may well be the case), forget about it! There are so many things here I don't understand, anyway (see much of the explanations given here)… ✓ Kanġi Oĥanko (talk) 10:40, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

But... it is well beyond my technical know-how, so I think we might have to find someone to help us if you want to do something special like that here. or, you could copy that template over here and translate it...
