Grigoryi Pavlovich Myasoedov (1901-1943) — Staff sergeant of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, participant of the Great Patriotic War, Hero of the Soviet Union (1943).

Biography edit

Grigoryi Pavlovich Myasoedov was born on September 27, 1901 in Novosergeevka village (now village in Orenburg Oblast). Nationality Russian. He moved to Aktyubinsk in 1925, where he graduated from Agricultural Communist High school and led the House of party education. Myasoedov was drafted to serve in the Red Army in 1941. Since June of that year he served at the front lines of the Great Patriotic War[1].

By October 1943 staff sergeant Grigoryi Myasoedov served as a company sergeant-major in 895th Rifle Regiment under 193rd Riffle Division in 65th Army of the Central Front. He distinguished himself in a Battle for Dnieper. On October 15, 1943 Myasoedov crossed Dnieper river by Loyew village of Gomel Region in Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic and took an active part in battles to take and retain control over the bridgehead on the west bank of the river. He was killed in a battle on October 19, 1943. Buried in a mass grave in Krupeiyki village by Loyew District[1].

Staff sergeant Myasoedov was given a distinguished title of the Hero of the Soviet Union postmortem by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR adopted on October 30, 1943. Also was given an Order of Lenin and a medal[1].

A street in the city of Aktobe (Kazakhstan) was named in honor of Myasoedov.[1].
