HISTORY

edit

Originally founded as GamersOnline UK in August 2011 with the sole purpose of bringing gamers together to enjoy the company of other like minded gamers, they began hosting and arranging regular game nights and events for members, less than 3 months later its success had been noted by the two founders Paul Babbage and Peter Kelly where they rebranded as XboxPlayers in November 2011.

Xbox Players was quickly recognised as a reliable source of information for all Xbox related news, discussion and videos. The introduction of Game Reviews gave Xbox Players the opportunity to establish themselves as a good source of reference within the Video Games Industry for new Xbox games.

Their rapid expansion and growing user base lead the busy co-owners to look for more partners in the business and in October 2012 Robin Cope and Jon Scoular joined the team, and the site has gone from strength to strength.

One of the main focuses for the Xbox Players is Customer experience, which has lead them to look at the best user interface and overall image of the site. To help the site grow and make navigation simpler and better looking for the user Xbox Players incorporated Wordpress to compliment VBulletin on their website in 2013.

The switch from .co.uk to .com was seen by Xbox Players as the next logical step to establish themselves on the global market, which also took place in 2013, this coinsided with an overhaul of the forum layout to make it simpler for there users to navigate.

The reintroduction at Xbox Players of regular Gaming Events on Xbox Live and Tournaments sponsored by developers and other partners in the games industry have raised their profile exponentially. Add to this Xbox Game Achievements, Interviews, Xbox Previews, Xbox Videos, Release Calendar along with a lot of Help and Advice and it is plain to see why Xbox Players are growing so rapidly.

Game Review Scoring System

The Xbox Players 10 Point System:
edit

To allow Xbox Players to offer completely unbiased independent game reviews they use a unique scoring system and firmly believe that for a game to score a perfect 10 it has to be perfect, and have no areas that could be improved.

The game is broken into 6 key areas, each being scored 1 - 10 with 10 being perfect in every way. The scores for each area are then calculated to give an overall score out of 10

  • Story: /10
  • Control feel: /10
  • Graphics: /10
  • Smartglass: / 10
  • Sound: /10
  • Gameplay: /10

The process concludes with a summary of the game and final score, the main good and bad areas of the game are also included in the Conclusion.
