A Movie-based game is a type of video game based off the intellectual property of a film or a film franchise. The game is a recreation or reimagination of the film by video game developers leasing the licensing rights. There are two sub-groups of movie-based games, tie-ins and property games.
Tie-In edit
A Tie-in is a game that is licensed and developed to be released on the exact same (or near exact) date as the film it is based upon.
